Production Manager (Plastics Manufacturing)
Reliable Steel and Plastic Industries Limited, a company incorporated on April 28th, 1998, is committed to providing the best quality products to our customers. We use only quality materials, handle everything in-house, and offer comprehensive customer service. We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Production Manager (Plastics Manufacturing)
Location: Onitsha, Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Plant Manager / Director of Operations
Department: Production & Operations
Job Summary: The Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day manufacturing operations of our plastics production facility. This role demands a highly technical and results-driven leader who will take full ownership of manufacturing outputs, machine efficiency, material quality, and shift personnel management. The primary focus is to optimize production cycles, minimize scrap rates, and maintain the highest standards of structural and aesthetic product quality. The ideal candidate must bring extensive shop-floor leadership experience specifically within a plastics manufacturing environment, demonstrating deep mechanical and operational mastery over injection and blow moulding technologies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Execution: Lead, coordinate, and optimize daily production schedules to ensure output targets are met safely, efficiently, and on time. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), cycle times, and capacity utilization to continuously improve plant throughput. Allocate manufacturing resources, manage shift schedules, and supervise floor team leads, technicians, and machine operators.
Injection & Blow Moulding Technical Oversight: Oversee the setup, parameter optimization, operation, and troubleshooting of all injection and blow moulding machinery. Partner with the maintenance department to design and enforce preventive maintenance schedules for machines, moulds, chillers, and auxiliary equipment to minimize unplanned downtime. Supervise mould changeovers, ensuring precision clamping, correct temperature profiles, and optimal pressure settings to avoid tool damage.
Material Inspection & Quality Assurance: Establish rigorous control frameworks for raw material inspection, verifying the quality, moisture levels, and specifications of incoming resin pellets, master batches, and regrind materials. Implement inline and final product quality checks to eliminate common moulding defects such as flashing, short shots, warping, silver streaks, or uneven wall thickness. Manage the blending ratios of virgin materials and regrind to optimize cost-efficiency without compromising the structural integrity of the finished product.
Cost Control, Waste Reduction & Safety: Analyze production waste and scrap data, implementing immediate technical or behavioral interventions to drive down reject rates. Enforce strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations on the production floor, ensuring proper use of PPE, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures, and machine guarding.
Job Specification:
Educational Background & Professional Certifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer/Plastics Engineering, Industrial Production Engineering, or a highly related technical field. Certifications: Professional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or specialized Plastics Manufacturing/Mould Design technologies will be an added advantage.
Experience & Industry Expertise: Proven Experience: A minimum of 6+ years of verifiable experience in a leadership or managerial role strictly within a plastics manufacturing company. Machine Expertise: Mandatory, deep hands-on and theoretical knowledge of Injection Moulding and Blow Moulding machines, processing parameters, and auxiliary equipment. Material Science: Thorough understanding of polymer behaviors, resin grades (e.g., HDPE, LDPE, PP, PET, PVC), additives, and material blending characteristics.
Key Competencies & Technical Skills: Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic skills to identify and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or process-related faults in moulding equipment. Analytical Skills: Advanced capability to interpret production data, material variances, and financial implications of scrap rates. Leadership & Drive: A firm, fair leadership style with a proven track record of managing and motivating a diverse workforce of technicians and operators under high-pressure targets. Software Competency: Experience using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP production modules, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical & Operational Attributes: Floor Presence: Willingness to spend significant time on the factory floor, actively monitoring machine performance and mentoring floor staff. Flexibility: Adaptable to supporting a 24/7 continuous shift production facility during critical turnarounds or emergencies.
Application Closing Date: 31st August, 2026.

- •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
