Through strategic initiatives like The Center for Inclusive Digital Transformation of Africa and the African Engineering and Technology Network (AFROTC), CMU-Africa collaborates with leading universities, governments, industries, and partners to enhance engineering education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Africa. CMU-Africa is actively seeking an Associate Director of Knowledge Creation to lead the strategic implementation and evolution of the Knowledge Creation pillar within The Center and the AFROTC network. In this role, you will collaborate with the Center Director, CMU-Africa leadership, faculty, and partner institutions to develop and execute a robust research and innovation agenda that advances inclusive digital transformation through applied research, cross-institutional partnerships, researcher development, and engagement with policymakers, industry leaders, and key stakeholders. This position demands leveraging CMU’s research strengths to cultivate a dynamic research ecosystem that produces high-caliber scholarship, secures external funding, influences policy and practice, and nurtures the next generation of African researchers. You will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Knowledge Creation pillar, strengthening research capacity across the network while accelerating the translation of research into tangible educational, economic, and societal benefits. Additionally, you will position CMU-Africa and the AFROTC network as influential contributors to research, innovation, and evidence-based solutions that propel Africa’s digital transformation agenda. Responsibilities: Collaborate with The Center Director to implement a strategic plan that operationalizes the Knowledge Creation pillar’s objectives, ensuring alignment with The Center’s mission of fostering inclusive digital transformation across Africa. Work closely with CMU and AFROTC faculty to co-create and drive a vibrant research and innovation ecosystem within the AFROTC network by fostering collaboration among universities, researchers, policymakers, industry partners, and development organizations.
