Our commitment to driving meaningful change is reflected in our efforts to generate a tangible and positive social impact, through the following initiatives: Provide comprehensive support to partners throughout the entire ‘data and evidence’ lifecycle, encompassing primary data collection, data systems development, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and advanced data science applications. Evaluate funding allocations to prioritize high-impact initiatives while systematically reducing support for less effective programs or strategies. Develop innovative AI-driven solutions designed for social good, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency and scalability of social intervention programs and educational tools. The Associate & Senior Associate position involves a dynamic blend of responsibilities tailored to both career stages, with a focus on delivering exceptional client service and contributing to the firm’s strategic objectives. As an Associate, you will collaborate closely with senior team members to execute complex projects, conduct thorough research, and assist in preparing high-impact deliverables. In the Senior Associate capacity, you will assume greater ownership, leading initiatives, mentoring junior colleagues, and playing a pivotal role in client relationship management. Key Responsibilities Associates and Senior Associates play a pivotal role in fulfilling the following responsibilities: Overseeing the project team’s workflow, systems, and while ensuring alignment with project plans. Facilitating the seamless day-to-day execution of project tasks and spearheading internal coordination initiatives. Designing research methodologies, collecting or sourcing data, performing technical analysis, and creating visualizations or final deliverables to support project objectives. Develop client-facing deliverables such as comprehensive reports, strategic slide decks, and impactful presentations, designed to guide informed decision-making and facilitate effective client actions. Crafting strategic communications to amplify awareness of ID insight’s initiatives and key takeaways, enhancing sectoral understanding, and fostering a shift toward evidence-based policy and practices. Directing comprehensive data collection initiatives, this role involves supervising every aspect of the process to uphold data integrity, encompassing questionnaire design, sample selection, team management, data analysis, and synthesis of findings. As required by project demands, you will visit various locations, including project sites, ID insight offices, embedded client locations, and other relevant areas. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance internal team dynamics, design, and deploy organizational systems, and contribute strategically to overall company growth. Contributing to the development and enhancement of office life and culture includes organizing and facilitating All Hands Meetings, spearheading team building initiatives, actively participating in committee events, and collaborating with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Working Groups. Recent projects undertaken by Associates and Senior Associates include a diverse array of initiatives and engagements. In collaboration with multiple African governments, this role aims to enhance evidence-based decision-making in key areas including women’s economic empowerment, education, and economic growth. Providing assistance to multi-workstream initiatives with health organizations focused on measurement and learning, this role involves developing cost models, compiling and interpreting evidence, and projecting health system savings across various countries. Associates will contribute through econometric analysis, client interactions, and modeling efforts spanning multiple regions. Conduct randomized evaluations of development interventions, overseeing key associate responsibilities such as leading data cleaning initiatives, performing quantitative analyses, and drafting comprehensive reports. Additionally, coordinate dissemination workshops with government partners and address practical implementation challenges encountered in real-world settings. Associates contribute to the execution of school-level randomized controlled trials (RCTs) focused on evaluating educational interventions. Their responsibilities include compiling comparative analyses that assess the performance of treatment schools in relation to comparable non-participating institutions, while also offering actionable recommendations for performance enhancement. Serving on ID insight’s internal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion working group as a member of the Recruiting Committee, Careers & Promotions Committee, and/or the Work Culture Committee. Qualifications ID insight Associates and Senior Associates are drawn from diverse academic and professional disciplines. Candidates for these positions should possess the qualifications outlined below: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Policy Research, Development Studies, Engineering, Environmental Science, Political Science, Public Policy, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional Rewriting: A minimum of two to five years of progressive professional experience is required in fields such as international development, research and evaluation, data analytics, consulting, or program management. Strong proficiency in analytical methods is essential, with demonstrated experience—whether through professional practice or academic study—in econometrics, data analysis, statistical tools, and both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Demonstrated excellence in crafting clear, concise written content, with a proven capacity to convert complex technical terminology into polished, policy-focused documentation. Demonstrates a capacity to grasp intricate ideas rapidly, even without extensive background knowledge, coupled with a proactive approach to mastering new concepts, abilities, and techniques. Additional Preferred Qualifications Proven expertise in statistical analysis and data collection software, including State, SPSS, R, Survey CTO, and/or Open Data Kit. Proficiency in the local language(s) of the assignment country—Swahili or one of Zambia’s indigenous languages—along with a strong grasp of the local context, is required. Experience in research, program evaluation, or development work within East Africa or Southern Africa, either through prior professional roles or internships, is required. Nuts & Bolts Location Associate positions are to be stationed at ID insight’s offices in either Lusaka, Zambia, or Nairobi, Kenya. These roles may entail extensive regional travel, contingent upon project requirements and the organization’s growth plans. Work Authorization ID insight is dedicated to fostering a diverse international workforce and provides employment visa sponsorship for candidates of all nationalities. Nevertheless, the organization gives preference to applicants who are citizens of Zambia or Kenya, or who already hold valid work authorization in these countries, as this eliminates the need for ID insight to arrange work permits.
