The role may be based at any of Eugene’s operational sites across the Western, Eastern, and Central regions of Uganda. Eugene employs asset finance, technology, and a customer-focused approach to empower entrepreneurs in the informal sector, significantly enhancing their economic prospects. Its core asset finance solutions feature medical and life insurance coverage, professional development programs, safety equipment provisions, and digital credit histories, supplemented by affordable financing options for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Through fostering economic growth among clients and establishing verifiable digital records of their financial responsibility, Eugene is cultivating a sustainable ecosystem that enables micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to flourish and expand over time. Eugene is addressing the credit gap for small businesses across Africa by empowering informal entrepreneurs to acquire income-generating assets, establish verifiable digital credit histories, and unlock future growth prospects through its innovative digital platform. The platform offers a range of benefits, including discounts, smartphones, e-commerce opportunities, and flexible credit lines. With a track record of financing over 70,000 clients and a dedicated workforce of hundreds, Eugene serves entrepreneurs through its extensive branch network spanning Uganda and Kenya. We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team in this dynamic role. Formation / DiplĂ´mes

  • Prospective customer assessment and acquisition involves verifying eligibility, confirming submitted information and documentation, performing necessary background checks, and facilitating onboarding to ensure compliance with Eugene’s credit policies and procedures.
  • Loan Management: Oversee customer loans throughout the entire lifecycle, tracking repayments, pursuing overdue amounts, resolving customer inquiries, and escalating delinquent accounts as necessary.

Incident Management: Oversee and facilitate the resolution of customer-related incidents, including accidents, medical emergencies, theft, and asset seizures, while also providing assistance with insurance claims, asset retrieval, and associated procedures. Maintain robust customer relationships post-sale, proactively assess evolving customer requirements, collect and analyze feedback, strengthen customer retention efforts, and uncover prospects for cross-selling additional products and services. Maintain precise and current customer records, systematically log all customer interactions and agreements in the CRM and approved systems, and uphold adherence to Eugene’s credit, documentation, and transparency standards. Seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, complemented by at least two years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and exceptional communication skills are essential. Familiarity with project management tools and strong problem-solving abilities are highly desirable. Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards is a prerequisite, along with the capacity to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.   • Hold qualifications equivalent to A’ levels or higher. With at least one year of hands-on experience in the field, you will have developed practical skills and a solid understanding of the challenges and requirements of the role. Oversee daily operations to ensure seamless workflow, maintaining high standards of efficiency and productivity across assigned tasks. Collaborate with the Branch Executive, Account Managers, Marketing Team, and other branch personnel to execute initiatives that enhance product visibility and attract new customers. Maintain precise records of leads, customer interactions, sales activities, and conversions within the CRM system while generating prompt sales reports and forecasts.
  • Ongoing Market Expansion: Analyze market dynamics to uncover unmet needs, emerging prospects, and the precise assistance needed from branch or marketing teams to boost sales and enhance Eugene’s market position. Qualifications and Skills: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with at least three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Strong negotiation skills are essential to resolve outstanding balances while maintaining professionalism and adhering to company policies. Additionally, they document all actions taken, ensuring accurate records are maintained for audits and reporting purposes. Proficiency in relevant software, familiarity with state and federal collection laws, and a results-driven approach are critical for success in this role. As a Recovery Agent, your primary responsibility will involve overseeing a broad portfolio of debt recovery cases, ensuring delinquent accounts are collected promptly and effectively. You will collaborate with clients to establish mutually agreeable payment arrangements and address any discrepancies, always in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational protocols. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between clients and the central recovery team at the head office. Your position plays a pivotal role in sustaining strong client relationships while contributing directly to Eugene’s financial objectives. Manage an assigned portfolio of overdue accounts, focusing on the timely, professional, and effective recovery of outstanding payments. Issue demand notices, pursue overdue accounts through follow-up actions, and implement appropriate recovery measures in strict accordance with Eugene’s established policies and procedures. Facilitate the recovery and impoundment of designated assets, maintaining meticulous records and ensuring seamless integration into branch inventory with real-time tracking for accurate oversight. Engage with clients to establish mutually agreeable repayment schedules, ensuring terms remain practical and sustainable. Track ongoing compliance with these arrangements and initiate corrective measures promptly in cases of non-adherence to contracted obligations.

  • Customer Engagement & Complaints: Resolve customer inquiries, grievances, and disputes with professionalism, ensuring efficient resolution while fostering lasting positive relationships. Maintain precise and punctual documentation of every customer interaction, recovery effort, negotiation, and case progression within the CRM and approved systems. Work collaboratively with Branch Teams, Head Office Recovery, Legal, and other internal or external stakeholders to manage recovery actions, handle escalations, and resolve complex cases efficiently.
  • Evaluation of Portfolio Performance: Assess customer payment behaviors and recovery advancements to determine underperforming leases or potential termination scenarios, ensuring alignment with Eugene’s established policies and guidelines. Deliver precise and prompt updates and reports regarding recovery cases, payment commitments, asset recovery efforts, and overall portfolio performance. Provide legal and court support as needed, including attending hearings and furnishing pertinent documentation or clerical assistance as instructed by the supervisor or designated legal counsel. Qualifications and Skills: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of five years of progressive experience in financial analysis, reporting, or auditing. Strong proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions and pivot tables, is essential, along with experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle. Excellent analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to interpret complex financial data are critical. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to present findings to stakeholders. Familiarity with GAAP and IFRS standards, as well as knowledge of financial modeling and forecasting techniques, is highly desirable. A diploma or higher qualification is required for this role. One year of experience in debt recovery, credit control, or a related position is highly desirable.
