Profile Yara Fertilizer Zambia Limited is seeking a permanent Crop Scientist to support corporate and commercial agricultural producers across Zambia’s Southern region. Area of responsibility encompasses the regions south of Kazue, including Managua, Monte, Paloma, Coma, and Livingstone. Living location: Mazabuka, Zambia. Reporting to the Agronomy & Commercial Sales Manager for the Zambia Cluster. Role and Responsibilities Professionally and sustainably advance the agronomic support and sales initiatives for Yara’s premium and differentiated products to commercial agricultural producers within the designated territory, while concurrently enhancing the company’s overall performance. Our role requires specialized knowledge in agronomy as well as the provision of technical support. We are seeking a skilled professional to oversee the entire lifecycle of our plant nutrition product portfolio, from strategic development and market introduction to successful implementation and ongoing performance assessment. Digital farming solutions Market Intelligence Sales planning and forecasting, procurement of inventory, and management of supply chain logistics. We specialize in delivering comprehensive solutions for credit application processing, debtor management, and account inquiries. Our services are designed to streamline financial operations, enhance credit assessment accuracy, and ensure efficient resolution of account-related queries. Stakeholder and relationship management, particularly within the commercial farming industry, involves cultivating and sustaining productive partnerships with key individuals and organizations that influence business outcomes. Our organization prioritizes adherence to established policies, values, and contractual obligations while actively promoting them throughout the workplace. Functional Knowledge Proven expertise in crop production, plant nutrition, and agronomic principles, supported by both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. Proficiency in sales strategies, marketing principles, and negotiation techniques specifically within the commercial farming industry is required, along with hands-on experience in these areas. Demonstrates a strong understanding of corporate and commercial customer service and relationship management practices. Possesses a solid understanding of sales administration principles tailored to corporate and commercial agricultural producers. Competencies Technical: Proven expertise and in-depth knowledge in agronomy. We seek professionals with strong business acumen, exceptional organizational and administrative skills, the ability to perform critical evaluations, and expertise in consultation and value selling. Business acumen, managerial capability, analytical problem-solving, and strong interpersonal competencies are essential for this role. Demonstrate a strong drive for executing sales initiatives while adhering to Yara’s established code of ethics and corporate governance guidelines. Must be able to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with a multicultural and remotely distributed team. Collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external partners to drive sales initiatives. Proficient in identifying issues, gathering data, evaluating options, and collaborating with key experts, decision-makers, and stakeholders to develop effective, long-term solutions. Responsible for analyzing issues, exercising sound judgment, and developing effective solutions to address the daily operational challenges encountered in sales within the commercial farming sector. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal connections, convey ideas persuasively, and engage in strategic discussions both internally with colleagues and externally with clients to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Qualifications and Experience Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture or a related field, along with certification in fertilization practices. The Agricultural Institute of Zambia (AIZ) offers a professional membership program designed to support and advance the agricultural sector. Eligibility for membership includes individuals and organizations actively engaged in agriculture, agribusiness, research, or related fields.
