Additionally, the incumbent will uphold the company’s stringent Safety and Environmental Management protocols at all times while supporting the seamless execution of mineral exploration operations. Job Description The Temporary Assistant Geologist will be responsible for meticulously collecting and storing data to ensure compliance with the strict reporting standards set by JOC, SAM REC, or NI 43-101. Additionally, the role requires maintaining the company’s high standards in Safety and Environmental Management at all times while supporting the efficient execution of all activities within the assigned mineral exploration project. Principal Accountabilities and Essential Areas of Results KEY RESULT AREAS PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES) Exploration To provide comprehensive support to the Technical Officer – I’m in executing all assigned duties effectively. To oversee both permanent and temporary staff within the ECCM-IH Technical Directorate throughout field exploration activities. Responsibilities include managing and directing drilling operations and contractor activities to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols. To carry out geological reconnaissance, geological mapping, and geochemical works as and when required. Conduct geological surveys, compile mapping data, and collect samples while documenting findings on plans and within the company’s GIS system. The development and implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control protocols, along with their execution, are key responsibilities. Core and RC samples must be documented promptly as required. You will provide support for geological and/or resource modeling and evaluation tasks. The mandate of this position is to guarantee full compliance with ECCM-IH’s established health and safety regulations among all employees of the ECCM-IH Technical Directorate and all engaged contractors. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Technical Officer – IM/Project Geologist or Senior Management to support their operational and strategic objectives. Reports Provide support in gathering and distributing information, as well as contributing to the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the designated project. Maintenance of Data Base To maintain comprehensive and organized records, all documentation—including soil logs, DD logs, and RC logs—must be systematically documented and stored in connection with their respective activities. On a weekly and monthly schedule, the incumbent will be tasked with updating the master files contained within the database. Maintain organized and comprehensive records, documenting all activities pertinent to exploration operations in a daily log. Job Requirements Professional Qualification: Grade 12 Certificate A Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Science with a specialization in Geology is required for this position. Professional Membership with EIZ Affiliated with the Geological Society of Zambia (GSZ). Final-year students and recent graduates are strongly encouraged to submit their applications, as they will be given full consideration. Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience: Recent graduates should possess a comprehensive understanding of the Central African Copper belt (CAB) and a broad-based knowledge of Ore Deposit Geology. For individuals who have not recently graduated, relevant work experience within the Central African Copper belt (CAB) is essential, particularly exposure to mineral exploration activities such as soil sampling, diamond drilling (DD), or reverse circulation (RC) drilling. Skill Specifications: Capable of sustained physical activity, equipped to perform extended work shifts in isolated areas. Proven ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured reports, coupled with the capacity to deliver compelling and professional presentations. Highly skilled in analyzing and interpreting geological and geochemical data with precision and expertise. A proficient communicator who excels in fostering constructive working relationships within the organization. Proficiency in geological software applications, including ArcGIS and CGIS, is required.
