Senior Merchandise Planner

Job Title: Merchandiser (20) Department: Sales & Marketing Location: Lusaka Job Purpose The Merchandiser, recruited through the HR Outsourcing department, is responsible for ensuring the consistent availability, proper display, and effective promotion of pharmaceutical products across assigned retail outlets, pharmacies, supermarkets, and wholesale clients. In this role, the Merchandiser serves as a professional representative of the company, upholding merchandising standards and contributing to sales growth initiatives. Key Responsibilities Conduct visits to designated retail establishments in alignment with the prearranged route schedule. Maintain optimal inventory levels and organize merchandise in strict adherence to the company’s established visual merchandising guidelines to ensure an attractive and compliant product presentation. Monitor inventory levels and facilitate replenishment in collaboration with the sales team as needed. Manage inventory by adhering to the First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) protocol, ensuring timely rotation of stock while promptly identifying and removing any expired or damaged items. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining promotional materials and point-of-sale displays to ensure optimal visibility and functionality. Verify the accuracy of product pricing and promotional offers as displayed. Develop and nurture strong, professional connections with store managers and retail employees to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. Conduct ongoing assessments of competitor offerings, pricing strategies, promotional activities, and shelf placement, then relay pertinent market insights. Maintain product displays in a clean, organized, and visually appealing manner. Prepare and submit precise daily, weekly, and monthly merchandising reports. Adhere rigorously to all established client policies, HR outsourcing protocols, and mandatory health and safety standards. Handle any additional merchandising tasks as directed by the client or supervisor. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Compliance with merchandising standards. Oversee the consistent availability of products across designated retail locations. Ensure that assigned outlets maintain adequate stock levels to meet customer demand. Monitor inventory turnover and replenishment processes to minimize stock outs. Address any supply chain or logistics issues that may impact product availability. Coordinate with procurement and distribution teams to optimize inventory management. Verify that all outlets adhere to merchandising and display standards to enhance product visibility. Achieved the designated quantity of planned store visits conducted. To minimize instances of stock-outs and product expiration, stringent inventory management practices must be implemented and maintained. Enhancing product displays and optimizing shelf visibility are key responsibilities to ensure the highest standards of presentation and customer engagement. Timely submission of reports. Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline is required. Possessing prior training or experience in merchandising or retail operations is highly beneficial. Professional Version: A minimum of one to two years of practical experience in merchandising, retail sales, or the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector is required. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in supermarket, pharmacy, or retail environments. Proficiency in HR outsourcing frameworks is considered a favorable qualification. Skills and Competencies Effective merchandising and customer service capabilities are essential for this position. Effective communication and strong interpersonal abilities are essential. Effective planning and organizational capabilities are required for this role. Attention to detail. Capable of self-directed work while fulfilling designated objectives within established timelines. Problem-solving and reporting skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is considered a beneficial skill.
