Background Advocate for Community Development and Environmental Protection (ACO DEP) is seeking qualified candidates to fill a position within an innovative multi-sectoral program dedicated to advancing women’s engagement in environmental peace building, climate action initiatives, prevention of gender-based violence, safeguarding human rights, and promoting environmental justice. Two positions are available, each offering a one-year contract with the potential for renewal. JOB SUMMARY The Governance & Human Rights Officer will provide assistance for programs that advance human rights, ensure governance accountability, encourage citizen engagement, facilitate access to justice, and foster inclusive decision-making processes. The position involves overseeing a range of critical duties, including strategic planning, stakeholder management, and operational execution. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, analyzing market trends to identify growth opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives. Additionally, the role requires maintaining compliance with industry regulations, managing budgets, and leading performance evaluations to ensure team accountability. Strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement are essential for success in this role. Facilitate community engagement initiatives focused on human rights education and governance awareness. Facilitate and encourage active involvement of residents in the civic processes that shape community policies and initiatives. Leverage expertise to advance programs aimed at preventing human-rights violations and safeguarding at-risk populations. Engage with community members and key stakeholders to facilitate meaningful dialogues and collaborative discussions. Collaborate closely with local leaders and pertinent institutions to enhance accountability mechanisms. Facilitate and enhance the involvement of women in governance and decision-making processes. Document human rights violations and governance concerns that emerge within the scope of program activities. Facilitate seamless referrals and establish strong connections with appropriate service providers to ensure smooth transitions for clients. Compile detailed activity reports and maintain comprehensive program documentation.

Provide training and capacity-building initiatives for community groups and stakeholders. Foster the inclusion and active participation of vulnerable and marginalized communities to ensure equitable opportunities and engagement. The preferred candidate will possess a proven track record of success in a similar role, demonstrating exceptional leadership and problem-solving abilities. They must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, along with [X] years of hands-on experience in [specific industry/field].
