The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) manages the procurement, storage, sales, and distribution of essential, cost-effective, and quality-assured medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities across Malawi. To strengthen its operations in Mzuzu, Lilongwe, and Blantyre, CMST invites forward-thinking and dynamic professionals to fill the following role: Branch Accountant Grade: MS4 Location: Blantyre Reporting Line: Branch Manager (MS3) Supervisory Role: Assistant Accountant (MS6) Positions Available: One (1) Core Responsibilities This position will oversee all accounting functions at the branch level while ensuring robust financial and inventory management. Key duties include:

  • Overseeing the maintenance and accurate use of warehouse accounting records, such as stock cards.
  • Communicating warehouse accounting updates to the Branch Manager.
  • Organizing and facilitating training sessions for branch accounting personnel.
  • Assisting in inventory management to align with established stock control policies.
  • Preparing branch financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements.
  • Supporting cash flow forecasting and management efforts.
  • Aiding in budget development and monitoring adherence to budgetary allocations.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Leading and supervising the branch accounts team.
