JOB OPPORTUNITY VACANCIES – GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT FACILITY (GEF) 8 PROJECT The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is the world’s leading organization dedicated to the conservation of cranes and the ecosystems, watersheds, and flyways on which they depend. In Africa, ICF works to secure viable populations of the four threatened crane species, Wattled Crane, Grey Crowned Crane, Blue Crane, and Black Crowned Crane, through science, partnerships, community engagement, and sustainable landscape management. In Zambia, ICF, in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Zambia and WWF, is implementing two flagship Global Environment Facility (GEF) projects under the Kafue Flats Restoration Partnership: Kafue Flats Wildlife, Habitat, Health and Livelihoods Project (KaF-Wild); and Kafue Flats Climate Resilience and Adaptation Project (KaF-Adapt). Together, these five-year projects seek to restore the Kafue Flats ecosystem while improving biodiversity conservation, strengthening climate resilience, supporting sustainable livelihoods, and enhancing the well-being of communities across the landscape. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following vacant positions under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) 8 Project: 1. COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER Based in: Lusaka Zambia with some travel Reports directly to: The Project Manager and Technical Coordinator Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain the joint communications strategy for the KaF-Wild and KaF-Adapt projects in collaboration with the Project Management Unit, implementing partners, and sub-grantees. Lead media relations by building and maintaining relationships with traditional and digital media, coordinating media interviews, press conferences, speaking engagements, and promoting the visibility of the GEF partnership. Develop and produce high-quality communications and marketing materials, ensuring compliance with ICF editorial, graphic, branding standards, and the GEF Communication and Visibility Policy. Support digital communications by creating and sharing compelling stories for the ICF website and social media platforms, monitoring online content, and providing appropriate responses and guidance. Coordinate communications for project events and oversee photography, videography, and other multimedia requirements in collaboration with the External Affairs Team and project staff.
