POSITION AVAILABLE: Program MANAGER – ECONOMIC JUSTICE & CLIMATE (INT11743) We are seeking a highly motivated Program Manager to lead our Economic Justice and Climate initiative, driving impactful strategies that address systemic inequities and environmental sustainability. The role demands a proven track record in program management, with a strong focus on climate action and economic equity, alongside exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. Job Summary: The Climate and Economic Justice Program Manager will lead Oxfam’s climate justice, economic justice, livelihoods, resilience, and inequality programming across the Southern Africa (SAF) Cluster, delivering strategic direction, technical expertise, and people management. This position is tasked with ensuring Oxfam’s climate and economic justice initiatives effectively tackle the root causes of poverty, vulnerability, and inequality by delivering high-caliber, partner-driven, evidence-based programs that comply with Oxfam’s global frameworks and the SAF Strategy (2026–2030). This role is responsible for ensuring programs are strategically developed, executed with excellence, and aligned to drive meaningful systems change across local, national, and regional domains. Under the guidance of the Program and Influencing Lead, this position enhances thematic alignment across the Cluster while advancing integrated nexus programming through robust linkages with gender justice, humanitarian action, governance, and policy priorities. Serving as the primary thematic authority on climate and economic justice, the role ensures seamless coordination between program implementation, evidence-based insights, partnership development, and policy advocacy. This position oversees the leadership, growth, and operational effectiveness of a geographically dispersed Climate and Economic Justice team spanning multiple countries, fostering technical expertise, coordinated execution, professional development, and strategic coherence across all programmatic initiatives. With strategic leadership, rigorous program quality oversight, and robust external positioning, this position strengthens Oxfam’s regional influence on key issues such as inequality, climate adaptation, just economies, and inclusive development pathways throughout Southern Africa.
EXPERIENCE
, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES: Essential A Master’s degree in Development Studies, Economics, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or an equivalent field is required. Alternatively, candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree along with relevant postgraduate or professional qualifications and a minimum of 10 years of pertinent experience may also be considered. Minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in climate justice, economic justice, livelihoods, and inequality programming is required. With a minimum of three years of experience in a leadership or management capacity within a team environment. Demonstrated proficiency in technical skills alongside the capacity to align program design with strategic influencing and policy development initiatives. Experienced in leading teams, overseeing multi-country initiatives, designing strategic programs, and engaging with policymakers.
