Position Available: Coordinator for Economic, Justice, Technical, and Partnership Initiatives JOB PURPOSE The Climate and Economic Justice Technical and Partnerships Coordinator delivers expert technical assistance, leads partner engagement, and manages program coordination to enhance the caliber, cohesion, and strategic execution of Oxfam’s climate and economic justice initiatives within the Southern Africa (SAF) Cluster. The position plays a key role in facilitating the design, execution, and adaptive management of partner-led initiatives aimed at tackling the root causes of poverty, climate vulnerability, inequality, and economic injustice. In collaboration with partner organizations, country teams, and the Climate and Economic Justice Program Manager, the Coordinator ensures that programs are technically sound, contextually appropriate, evidence-driven, and strategically aligned with Oxfam’s regional priorities and systems-change objectives. As the primary technical interface with partners on climate and economic justice, the role strengthens programme quality, partner capacity, donor compliance, evidence generation, and integration with influencing priorities. It plays a critical function in ensuring that insights from programme implementation are systematically translated into regional advocacy, policy positioning, and learning systems. Operating without direct line management responsibility, the role requires a high degree of technical expertise, strategic coordination, facilitation, systems thinking, and professional autonomy in a complex multi-country, partner-led environment. Through strong technical leadership and relationship management, the position significantly strengthens Oxfam’s capacity to deliver transformative, locally led climate and economic justice outcomes across Southern Africa. The position demands advanced technical proficiency, strong analytical skills, and the capacity to work independently within a multifaceted, internationally distributed, partner-driven framework. Essential Qualifications A master’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a closely related discipline is required. With a minimum of five to seven years of specialized experience in climate justice, economic justice, livelihoods, environmental governance, and partner-led program implementation. Demonstrated expertise in managing multi-country or regional systems, fostering partner coordination, ensuring program quality, and providing technical advisory services. Demonstrated proficiency in technical skills, coupled with a capacity to align program design with advocacy and policy development initiatives. Exceptional proficiency in communication, analytical reasoning, and decisive judgment is required. Proven capability in establishing and nurturing robust, trustworthy relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners and organizations is essential. Proficient in both written and spoken English, with exceptional interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to influence and persuade effectively. A demonstrated capacity for self-awareness, coupled with high levels of personal energy, stamina, and adaptability. Proven experience as a team worker and demonstrably cooperative with members of other teams Demonstrates strict adherence to Oxfam’s safeguarding policies, guaranteeing the safety and protection of all individuals who interact with the organization. Desirable Portuguese language capability. Southern Africa regional experience. Proven track record in managing donor-funded programs with specific funding restrictions. Knowledge of policy influencing systems. Demonstrated dedication to Oxfam’s core objectives and policies, along with a proven track record in advancing gender equity, diversity, and the empowerment of marginalized communities across all facets of Oxfam’s initiatives. Capable of and committed to frequent travel, including short-notice assignments, both within the local area and across the broader region.
