1. Technical Director – Civil Engineering

Job Type: Full Time Qualification: BA/BSc/HND, MBA/MSc/MA Job Field: Engineering / Technical

Position Overview: The Technical Director will provide overall technical and operational leadership across the company's construction portfolio, overseeing multiple projects, guiding Project Managers, and ensuring projects are delivered within required timelines, budgets, and engineering standards. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will sit on the company's Executive Committee (EXCO) as part of senior management responsible for strategic decisions. The role is accountable for ensuring that projects are delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and to the highest engineering standards, while maintaining strong client relationships and contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Project Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight of major infrastructure and building projects.

  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations.

  • Ensure proper administration of projects under JBC construction contracts and other standard forms of contract.

  • Direct project execution from pre-construction through commissioning and handover.

  • Supervise and guide Project Managers and multidisciplinary technical teams.

  • Provide oversight on procurement cycles and ensure compliance with Kenyan Public Procurement regulations and systems.

  • Monitor and manage project cashflows, cost controls, and commercial performance.Commercial Leadership

  • Take full accountability for project profitability, margins, and commercial performance.

  • Review and approve project budgets, forecasts, variation claims, and recovery strategies.

  • Drive contract negotiations and commercial dispute resolution.Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the executive interface with Government Ministries, County Governments, engineers, consultants, and development partners.

  • Lead executive-level client engagement throughout project delivery.Risk Management

  • Lead enterprise project risk reviews.

  • Develop mitigation strategies for technical, financial, contractual, and operational risks.Technical Excellence

  • Champion innovation, digital construction, BIM, value engineering, and modern construction methodologies.

  • Lead value engineering initiatives to optimise cost efficiency without compromising project quality.

  • Oversee subcontractor management, supplier engagement, and procurement planning.

  • Lead technical governance across the entire project portfolio.

  • Lead technical planning, scheduling, and execution strategies across projects.Leadership

  • Participate in strategic decision-making as a member of the Executive Committee (EXCO).

  • Provide technical leadership across multiple construction projects, including high-rise buildings and government infrastructure works.

  • Build and mentor high-performing engineering leadership teams.

  • Develop succession plans for senior engineering staff.**

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or Business Administration (MBA) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in civil engineering or construction.
  • Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects and leading technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of JBC contracts and their administration.
  • Good working knowledge of Kenyan Government Procurement systems and procedures.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling, value engineering, procurement processes, and project financial management.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Current member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
  • Registration with other relevant professional bodies.End Date: 15th August 2026

2. Procurement Manager – Goods, Works & Strategic Sourcing

Job Type: Full Time Qualification: BA/BSc/HND, MBA/MSc/MA, Professional Certificate Experience: 12 - 15 years Location: Nairobi Job Field: Procurement / Store-keeping / Supply Chain

Job Purpose: To lead and manage end-to-end procurement and strategic sourcing of goods, materials, subcontracted works, plant, and specialist services for a large-scale housing construction business — securing cost-effective, technically compliant, timely, and commercially advantageous supply solutions locally and internationally, while supporting project delivery, business growth, and market competitiveness. The role also provides technical sales and commercial leadership, translating customer requirements into commercially viable procurement and delivery solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement Leadership

  • Develop and implement procurement strategy aligned with housing delivery targets, project schedules, and business growth objectives.

  • Establish procurement policies, governance frameworks, approval processes, and procurement controls.

  • Build strategic sourcing plans for construction materials, MEP systems, finishes, equipment, and specialist works.

  • Develop category management strategies for major spend categories.Procurement of Construction Goods

  • Manage procurement of structural materials (cement, steel, blocks, aggregates), finishing materials, mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing and sanitary equipment, HVAC systems, elevators and specialist installations, modular and prefabricated housing components, construction machinery and equipment, and furniture, fittings and equipment (FF&E).

  • Key outputs: supplier identification; RFQs/RFPs and tender management; technical and commercial evaluations; negotiation and contract award; order expediting and delivery tracking.Procurement of Works & Subcontract Management

  • Lead sourcing and procurement of subcontractors and specialist contractors.

  • Prepare scopes of work and procurement packages.

  • Conduct prequalification and due diligence.

  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements.

  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance; manage variation orders and claims support.

  • Typical packages: civil works, building works, MEP works, infrastructure works, interior fit-out, and specialist installations.International Procurement & Import Management

  • Lead overseas sourcing and supplier development.

  • Manage imports, freight forwarding, customs clearance, and delivery schedules.

  • Negotiate Incoterms and international supply agreements.

  • Coordinate with logistics, clearing agents, and project teams.

  • Manage foreign exchange exposure and international commercial risks; ensure import regulatory compliance.Technical Sales & Commercial Support (Critical Requirement)

  • Act as the procurement-commercial bridge for a growing housing business.

  • Support development of housing solutions based on customer requirements.

  • Engage developers, institutional clients, governments, and private customers.

  • Translate technical specifications into procurement and commercial strategies.

  • Participate in bid preparation and proposal development; support pricing and costing of housing solutions.

  • Lead supplier-backed commercial proposals; identify value engineering opportunities without compromising quality.

  • Support market entry and product positioning initiatives.Supplier & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with local and international manufacturers.

  • Develop supplier scorecards and performance monitoring.

  • Negotiate rebates, framework agreements, and volume discounts.

  • Establish alternative supplier channels for supply resilience.Cost Management & Value Engineering

  • Drive procurement savings and margin enhancement.

  • Monitor commodity trends and market pricing; lead cost benchmarking and should-cost analysis.

  • Deliver procurement budgets and cashflow forecasts; support working capital optimization.Risk, Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure procurement integrity and ethical sourcing.

  • Implement procurement controls and audit readiness.

  • Manage contractual and supplier risks.

  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.Team Leadership

  • Build and lead procurement and expediting teams.

  • Establish KPIs and performance management frameworks.

  • Mentor buyers, procurement officers, and category specialists.

  • Develop procurement capability across the business.Key Performance Indicators:

  • Procurement savings achieved (%).

  • Customer satisfaction.Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement & Supply Chain, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce, or Business Administration.

  • Preferred: Master's Degree (MBA / Supply Chain / Commercial Management).

  • Professional certifications: CIPS / CPSP / KISM.

  • Project Management certification is advantageous.Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 12–15 years total experience in procurement and commercial management.

  • At least 7 years in senior procurement leadership.

  • Demonstrated experience in: large construction projects; housing developments; international sourcing; procurement of works and subcontracting; technical sales and solution selling; EPC or design-build environments.

  • Proven record managing annual spend exceeding USD 20M–100M+.Competencies:

  • Technical: Strategic sourcing, construction procurement, contract administration, cost management, supply chain planning, import/export management, technical sales.

  • Commercial: Negotiation, financial analysis, proposal development, commercial structuring.

  • Leadership: Executive presence, stakeholder management, decision-making, team development.Ideal Candidate Profile: A commercially aggressive but highly disciplined procurement leader who understands construction delivery, international supply chains, technical sales, and housing commercialization — and can convert procurement capability into a competitive advantage for a fast-growing housing business.

3. Finance Controller / Chief Finance Officer

Role Overview: The Chief Finance Officer will serve as the CEO's key strategic partner in shaping and executing the company's growth agenda. Beyond financial stewardship, the role will provide executive leadership across finance, governance, business transformation, ERP implementation, risk management, and data-driven decision-making. Working within a founder-led business, the CFO will build trusted relationships with family ownership while strengthening governance, financial controls, and professional management practices to support sustainable regional expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team and report directly to the CEO and Board.

  • Provide strategic financial input to support business planning, investment decisions, and organisational priorities.

  • Drive business performance through insightful analysis, forecasting, and strategic guidance.

  • Support the CEO and Board in navigating governance matters specific to a founder-led, family-owned business, balancing family and professional management interests.Financial Management & Controls

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.

  • Maintain strong internal controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks.

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to the CEO, Board, and external stakeholders.

  • Lead the annual statutory audit process, including preparation, auditor engagement, resolution of audit findings, and presentation of outcomes to the Audit Committee and Board.

  • Establish and oversee an internal audit function or programme appropriate to the size of the business.Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Own the company's overall tax strategy and compliance, including corporate tax, VAT, and withholding tax obligations with KRA.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory levies (NSSF, SHIF, Affordable Housing Levy) and evolving Kenyan employment and tax legislation.

  • Oversee transfer pricing policy and documentation as the business expands into other African markets.Treasury & Banking

  • Oversee treasury management, cash flow planning, and capital structure.

  • Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and loan covenant compliance.

  • Structure working capital and trade finance solutions (e.g. import financing, letters of credit) appropriate for raw material and packaging imports.

  • Develop and implement foreign exchange risk management strategies to mitigate exposure arising from imports and future regional operations.Governance & Company Secretarial

  • Ensure compliance with Companies Act filing and statutory governance requirements, coordinating with company secretarial support as needed.

  • Support the development of a governance framework appropriate to a business transitioning from founder-managed to professionally managed operations.Capital & Fundraising

  • Support the CEO and Board in evaluating and securing growth capital, including debt and/or equity financing as required for pan-African expansion.

  • Prepare the business for investor or lender due diligence, ensuring financial records and controls meet external scrutiny.Risk & Insurance

  • Own the company's enterprise risk management framework.

  • Manage the insurance portfolio, ensuring appropriate cover across property, business interruption, trade credit, and liability risk.ERP & Systems Implementation

  • Lead the implementation, optimisation, and ongoing enhancement of SAP Business One, ensuring effective process design, change management, user adoption, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive automation and systems integration for operational and financial efficiency.

  • Ensure real-time data and reports are accessible and actionable for leadership.Operational Finance & Manufacturing Support

  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to drive cost efficiency and improve performance metrics.

  • Apply a strong manufacturing finance lens to product costing, inventory management, and margin analysis.

  • Provide decision support across departments with clear, data-backed insights.People & Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and excellence within the function.Success Metrics (Indicative — to be finalised with CEO)

  • First 6 Months: SAP Business One implementation roadmap agreed and underway; core financial controls and reporting cadence to Board established.

  • First 12 Months: Clean/unqualified statutory audit; tax compliance fully current; treasury and banking structure optimised for working capital needs; finance team structure and capability assessed and strengthened.Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA(K), ACA, ACCA, CA, or an equivalent internationally recognised accounting qualification.

  • Experience: 10–15 years in progressive finance roles, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or executive role.

  • Industry: Manufacturing experience is essential. Exposure to FMCG or food manufacturing is a strong advantage.

  • ERP Experience: Hands-on experience with SAP Business One, including leading a full implementation.
