Field Operations Manager This role is responsible for overseeing field operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and performance across assigned regions. Key duties include managing field teams, optimizing operational workflows, and maintaining adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Organization: African Parks Background African Parks (AP), a non-profit conservation organization, assumes long-term management responsibilities for protected areas through collaborative partnerships with governments and local communities. Currently, AP oversees 24 protected areas across 13 countries, spanning more than 20 million hectares in Angola, Benin, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic leader to oversee all internal park operations, encompassing infrastructure development and upkeep, fleet management, logistics, law enforcement, and conservation initiatives. Additionally, the role requires establishing and maintaining a robust succession plan to prepare for the future appointment of a Field Operations Manager. Key Responsibilities: Formulate and execute a cohesive Operations plan and budget that harmonizes with park strategy and business plans. Oversee and adjust operational plans as needed to ensure alignment with evolving business objectives and market conditions. Responsible for the strategic oversight and execution of infrastructure development and maintenance initiatives. Effectively manage and monitor budgets while exercising stringent cost control measures. To uphold compliance with established procurement protocols and evaluate contractor performance rigorously. Responsible for managing law enforcement operations, encompassing logistics coordination, equipment procurement and maintenance, and training program development. Manage fleet operations while maintaining strict adherence to compliance standards, ensuring regular maintenance, upholding safety protocols, and optimizing cost efficiency throughout the process. Maintain optimal inventory levels of fuel, spare parts, and operational materials to support uninterrupted operations. Responsibilities include managing logistics, procurement, and stock control systems to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy. Identify and engage potential suppliers, then engage in discussions to secure advantageous pricing and formalize agreements through contracts. Provide leadership for conservation initiatives, specifically managing wildlife translocations and implementing monitoring programs. Facilitate the scheduling and allocation of aircraft to support conservation initiatives and operational activities. Ensure strict adherence to African Parks’ established policies and standard operating procedures at all times. Ensure that operation teams have sufficient staffing and resources to meet their objectives effectively. Provide guidance and mentorship to department heads to enhance their performance and leadership capabilities. Foster a cohesive team environment rooted in shared values and collective purpose. Prepare precise operational reports for the Park Manager on a consistent basis. Competencies Effective communication and the ability to collaborate well with others are essential.
