Position: Underground Mine Sampler Department: Technical Services Reports To: Senior Geologist Employment Type: Full-Time Location: LC&Y Chillum Mine Plc is situated in Lufwanyama, within the Copper belt region of Zambia. Number of Positions: 1 Job Purpose Accurate and representative underground ore and waste samples must be collected in strict accordance with company protocols and geological standards to facilitate grade control, resource assessment, and mine planning, all while maintaining full compliance with mine safety regulations. Key Responsibilities Gather underground face, channel, chip, grab, and development samples in strict adherence to established sampling protocols and procedures. Correctly label, document, and securely transport samples to the laboratory for processing. Support geologists in the execution of subsurface geological mapping initiatives and associated sample collection activities. Maintain precise records and documentation of all sampling activities. Explore and document geological formations and irregularities observed in subsurface environments. Maintain sampling equipment in proper working condition and ensure its care. Adhere rigorously to all established Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. Always ensure proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on duty. Engage in regular toolbox meetings, conduct thorough safety inspections, and take an active role in emergency preparedness initiatives to ensure a secure and compliant work environment. Other responsibilities may include completing any additional tasks as delegated by the Geology Department. Minimum Qualifications Grade 12 School Certificate. A qualification in Mining, Geology, Mineral Processing, or a closely related discipline is highly advantageous. An additional qualification includes holding a valid Underground Blasting or Mine Safety Training Certificate. A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in underground mining environments is required, with a preference for roles involving sampling or geology support. Capable of performing assigned tasks in the demanding environment of underground mining operations while meeting physical fitness standards.
