The position necessitates four to five years of specialized accounting and administrative experience, specifically within the pharmaceutical sector. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to operate with minimal supervision, handling daily financial, accounting, and administrative tasks autonomously and efficiently. In addition to fulfilling standard accounting responsibilities, the Assistant Accountant will undertake a range of tasks including maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. The role will involve supporting senior accountants in month-end and year-end processes, assisting with budget preparation and tracking, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline financial operations. Key responsibilities The Assistant Accountant will support the accounting team by performing a range of financial tasks, including maintaining accurate records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end closings. This role requires proficiency in accounting software, strong attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the position demands effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with established financial policies and procedures. Assist the Finance Manager and Director by ensuring daily financial accounts and transaction records are meticulously maintained and kept current. Prepare, verify, and reconcile financial documents, invoices, and expense reports associated with pharmaceutical operations. Maintain general ledgers, accounting books, and tracking tools in strict adherence to local accounting principles. Serve as the primary organizational liaison during both anticipated and unannounced inspections and regulatory visits from governing agencies. Respond with assurance and professionalism to all communications received from the Tanzania Revenue Authority, the Labour Office, and other relevant government bodies. Ensure all statutory documentation, tax filings, and employment compliance records are meticulously maintained, systematically organized, and immediately accessible for review. Office administration and team guidance The successful candidate will also: Carry out everyday administrative tasks to maintain efficient office and facility functionality. Offer personalized leadership and direction to designated team members to ensure optimal performance and professional development. Requirements and qualifications Applicants must have: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related discipline is required for this position.
