Job description: P urpose of the role: The incumbent will support the Mining Superintendent in overseeing a versatile shift team tasked with managing projects, maintenance, operations, and the construction or relocation of the dewatering section, which includes, but is not limited to, pit dewatering pumps, dam pontoon pumps, and the flocculation/coagulation area. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure strict adherence to all statutory compliance and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements, while also promptly reporting any incidents that occur. To guarantee that all maintenance, construction, and monitoring activities are executed safely and efficiently, thereby achieving optimal reliability and uptime. Overseeing the operation of all mining infrastructure equipment, the role encompasses ensuring the seamless, efficient, and effective functioning of the dewatering systems. Perform equipment isolation as necessary to facilitate safe maintenance activities, strictly adhering to supervisory directives and all applicable legal regulations. Ensure adherence to the highest housekeeping standards at all times, upholding cleanliness and orderliness throughout the premises. Ensure timely maintenance activities, adherence to FEMA water quality standards, appropriate water buffer levels, and compliance with HSE regulations. Ensure meticulous, well-documented, and prompt shift handovers by systematically reporting performance KPIs, completed tasks, equipment status, and critical focus areas. Establish and meet daily productivity goals for team activities while ensuring strict adherence to established policies and procedures. Demonstrates a strong ability to drive results by effectively prioritizing tasks, meticulously tracking the advancement of assigned projects, and maintaining personal accountability for outcomes. Drive yourself and your team to surmount challenges and accomplish objectives through determination and perseverance. Responsible for organizing and supporting the development of workflows for upcoming initiatives. To maintain optimal plant availability at all times. Demonstrated expertise in collaborating across multiple disciplines to minimize interruptions to plant operations, ensuring seamless productivity. Proactively identify potential safety hazards, assess risks, and either resolve issues independently or escalate them to a supervisor for further action. Ensure strict compliance with and enforcement of all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Review safety hazard reports and address or escalate issues to the Supervisor for resolution as necessary. Daily attendance at safety meetings and toolbox talks is required. Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor. Qualifications & Experience Full Grade 12 certificate A diploma in a mechanical discipline is the minimum educational requirement. Possessing a degree in a related field would be considered an additional benefit. Member of EIZ and registered with ERB A minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory capacity is required. A background in mine dewatering operations or analogous settings is required. Job Specific Competencies Demonstrated expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of pumping and piping systems is required. Environmental compliance and water quality regulations are essential areas of expertise for this role. We value a strong understanding of water drainage systems and their operational principles.
