Position Summary
The Purchasing & Supply Intern will assist the Procurement Department by coordinating sourcing initiatives, facilitating the acquisition of materials, and overseeing inventory control processes. This role is designed to help guarantee the prompt and efficient provision of essential goods and services required for the successful execution of company projects and ongoing operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Support the procurement process by identifying potential suppliers and soliciting quotes for required goods and services. Draft Local Purchase Orders, issue Goods Received Notes, and ensure all procurement documentation is accurately maintained and filed. Facilitate stock taking, inventory control, and warehouse management activities. Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials to both site locations and head office. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier databases and procurement activities. Oversee the management of supplier information to ensure data integrity and accessibility. Provide support in the compilation and preparation of tender and bidding documentation. Other responsibilities may include completing any additional tasks deemed necessary by the Procurement Manager.
Minimum Requirements
Zambian citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this position. Currently pursuing or holding a recently completed Diploma/Degree in Purchasing & Supply, Procurement, Logistics, or Business Administration from an accredited institution. A minimum of a Credit or a cumulative average of 60% in prior academic coursework is required. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Proficient in utilizing the e-GP platform on the ZAPPA portal for bid submissions is a prerequisite. A valid Driver’s License is required for this position. As a mandatory requirement, the candidate must hold active membership with either the ZIPS or CAPS professional organization. Proficiency in ZAPPA guidelines and ERP systems would constitute a valuable asset. Demonstrates exceptional organizational capabilities, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrates resilience and composure when working under tight deadlines and in high-pressure environments. Willing to undertake travel to project locations as needed. Applicants must reside in Lusaka, with a preference for candidates based near the North mead area.
