Job Summary The Finance Business Partner will spearhead financial performance and analytics initiatives for Corporate and Investment Banking, with a specific focus on CIB’s Global Markets and Treasury divisions. This position demands a deep comprehension of the primary factors influencing the balance sheet, income statement, and associated performance metrics. The ideal candidate will provide vital financial analyses to the Head of Business Planning & Analysis, Director of Corporate, Director of Markets, and Country Treasury. This position maintains steady revenue integrity by implementing robust month-end procedures, conducting comprehensive product profitability assessments, and ensuring precise recognition of revenue, expenses, and balance sheet components. Main Accountabilities and Approximate Time Split Devoted half of the efforts to financial analysis and strategic risk management initiatives, ensuring data-driven decision-making and proactive mitigation of potential threats. The Finance Business Partner will deliver strategic financial guidance, risk assessments, and data-driven insights to support Corporate and Investment Banking products and business units. Key responsibilities include: Responsible for preparing precise financial reports, encompassing management accounts, for all Corporate and Investment Banking products and performance metrics. Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, you will deliver precise and prompt evaluations of performance metrics, revenue trends, costs, and overall profitability. Offering impartial, data-driven evaluations of business and product performance to inform strategic decision-making. The role involves identifying and analyzing potential risks and opportunities to enhance business performance and strategic decision-making. Diligently identifying and evaluating potential risks and opportunities impacting the bank’s financial performance is a key responsibility. Collaborate closely with the strategy team to ensure strategic goals and financial outcomes remain fully aligned. Actively engaging in the New Products and Governance Committee, this role involves delivering business and product support to ensure effective decision-making and alignment with organizational objectives. Offering a financial viewpoint and tracking the realization of benefits for all new products and other initiatives. Assisting with the compilation of management packs, this role involves generating both quantitative reports and qualitative analyses for key entities, including FCMC MBR Flash calls, ABSA Group Limited, and other relevant bank committees.

- Addresses discrepancies reported by internal business customers, such as errors in financial data or misplaced entries, to ensure accuracy and integrity of records. Collaborating with highly variable quality data, the incumbent will proactively identify and resolve inconsistencies to maintain the integrity and completeness of financial information, which is essential for informed decision-making. Preparing non-financial data, such as Level 2 information and in-depth analyses of products, systems, or processes, to facilitate well-informed discussions and strategic decision-making. Proactively recognizing and promptly elevating risk issues within the business support and analytics unit is essential to maintaining operational integrity and mitigating potential disruptions. Conducting bespoke analysis in response to specific requests from senior leadership is a key responsibility of this role. Planning and Performance Management – 20% The position will assist with strategic planning, financial forecasting, target tracking, and performance evaluation initiatives. Contributing to the establishment of objectives and maintaining proactive oversight of performance metrics to ensure targets are met. Partnering with business units to pinpoint potential risk factors that could impede the achievement of established objectives.
- Recommending corresponding corrective actions. Delivering mid-month outlooks or flash reports no fewer than three times per month. Enabling business and management teams to expedite actions and behaviors associated with high performance. Offer business support by evaluating and interpreting the primary factors influencing different cost categories in comparison to budgetary allocations. Provide regular updates to ABSA Africa regarding financial and other key performance indicators and metrics. Analyzing competitive dynamics and broader macroeconomic trends comprises 10% of the role’s responsibilities. The Finance Business Partner will additionally provide support in market intelligence, competitive analysis, and macroeconomic evaluation. Gathering and evaluating market data as well as competitive trends specific to CIB constitutes a core responsibility of this role. We analyze emerging market trends to assess their potential impact on business performance and competitive positioning.

- Conducting thorough analyses of market trends, including evaluating sector performance across customer deposits, loans and advances, and the currency composition of deposits. Financial Controls and Compliance – 10% The position will collaborate extensively with financial controls teams to enhance processes, infrastructure, systems, and compliance frameworks. Enhancing financial controls through the optimization of current processes, systems, and competencies.
- Preparing financial information in compliance with IFRS and applicable regulatory standards.
- Developing and maintaining precise accounting entries and guidelines for both new and existing product programs. Ensuring compliance of tax treatments with applicable tax regulations.
Maintaining current and precise product mapping to ensure accurate recording of revenue and balance sheet items within the correct profit center or business segment. Collaborating with financial controls teams, we aim to streamline and optimize existing processes through automation and enhancements, ensuring greater operational efficiency and the timely delivery of financial data. Monthly financial segmentation must be executed with precision, fairness, and strict adherence to deadlines to ensure accurate month-end reporting. Ensuring that TM1 outcomes, specifically the Tanzania Cube, are in harmony with SAP and FR packages to maintain unified reporting standards. Any discrepancies must be promptly reported to both the Head of Business Performance and Analytics and the Financial Controller for further review and resolution. Key reports are automated using Power BI or other data analytics tools sanctioned by the bank. Fund Transfer Pricing – 5% The Finance Business Partner will ensure precise and compliant Fund Transfer Pricing processes, aligned with established policies and procedures. The FTP system, SUM, must be configured in strict compliance with the FTP policy sanctioned by ALSO. Facilitates seamless FTP (Funds Transfer Pricing) computation to ensure equitable allocation of economic benefits and costs among various business functions. Implement critical FTP updates, such as behavioral profiles and supporting assumptions, while adhering to established governance protocols. Responsibilities include distributing FTP results to the Head of Business Performance and Analytics, as well as other relevant business colleagues, prior to publication. Team Building and Support – 5% The position encompasses responsibilities related to personal growth, collaborative teamwork, and operational assistance.
