Job Description: Transport Officer Department: EMS Reports To: Head of Emergency Medical Services Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The Transport Officer This position oversees the strategic planning, leadership, and coordination of all fleet and transport operations on a daily basis. It ensures the secure, efficient, and economical movement of internal company goods, materials, or personnel throughout Tanzania. The successful applicant must effectively integrate logistical accuracy with strict compliance to Tanzanian traffic regulations and local transport compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Fleet management responsibilities include strategically organizing, overseeing, and tracking daily vehicle dispatch schedules and route planning to enhance fuel efficiency while guaranteeing punctual deliveries and transit. Ensure full adherence to Tanzanian regulatory standards by verifying that all company vehicles and drivers comply with LAURA (Land Transport Regulatory Authority) mandates, TRA vehicle registration protocols, current insurance coverage, and mandated weight and axle load limitations.

Driver & Team Supervision: Oversee the scheduling, coordination, and management of the company’s internal team of drivers and dispatch personnel. Lead routine safety meetings and confirm that all drivers possess valid, class-appropriate driving licenses for the vehicles they operate. Oversee the scheduling and execution of routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs for the vehicle fleet to reduce operational downtime and maintain compliance with roadworthiness standards. Monitor expenses associated with transportation, track fuel efficiency metrics for company vehicles, administer fuel cards and related allowances, and proactively seek avenues to minimize operational inefficiencies. Act as the primary liaison for handling real-time incidents, including breakdowns, accidents, or police checkpoint delays, by addressing issues promptly and maintaining accurate documentation to ensure efficient resolution. Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Candidates should possess an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Transport Management, Supply Chain, NIT (National Institute of Transport) qualifications, or a business-related field. With at least three years of practical expertise in fleet management or transport operations, the ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation to this role. A strong command of the Tanzanian Road Traffic Act, adherence to LAURA compliance regulations, and familiarity with vehicle inspection standards are essential.
