JOB TITLE: Operations Manager DEPARTMENT: Operations SECTION: BUSINESS UNIT: Logistics REPORTS TO: General Manager 1. KEY JOB PURPOSE The incumbent is responsible for overseeing operational activities, enforcing the implementation of company policies and procedures, and ensuring that all departmental functions—including operations control, staff management, and fleet operations—adhere to established organizational standards. 2. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To achieve a daily truck turnaround of 500 kilometers while meeting the budgeted monthly revenue targets. To strategically plan, develop, oversee, manage, and assess multiple routes in alignment with business growth initiatives, ensuring efficient execution and alignment with organizational objectives. Direct staff operations pertaining to transportation functions such as dispatching, routing, and truck tracking, ensuring efficient oversight and coordination. O Develop, execute, and oversee transportation health and safety programs, as well as security initiatives, while establishing and maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS) and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) framework. Oversee and administer regulatory compliance protocols pertinent to transportation operations. Monitor critical performance metrics to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation operations. In collaboration with the Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHE) department, conduct thorough investigations to identify the root causes of incidents and recommend enhancements to safety protocols. Investigations will be directed to thoroughly verify and resolve customer complaints while ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements. o Mentor and develop operations staff. Recommend strategic capital investments in new trucks, equipment, or property to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation operations. o Responsible for operation staff performance management. Responsible for addressing and resolving customer complaints in collaboration with the Commercial Manager. Compile operational performance metrics and generate detailed weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for executive leadership and management review. Oversees stock control operations and ensures the precision of inventory records. QUALIFICATIONS. A Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or Business Management is required.
