Planning, overseeing, and carrying out all activities related to track maintenance—such as track relaying and major renewals—are key responsibilities of this role. Conduct routine inspections of the entire section using a push trolley at least every two weeks, or more frequently as required, to assess the performance of work gangs and detect any defects. Conducting scheduled inspections of designated points and crossings, curves, and level crossings as outlined in the established timetable. Responsibilities include evaluating the track’s performance by traveling on the footplate of high-speed trains and in trailing vehicles to detect and address areas where ride quality is suboptimal. Verifying that patrol personnel maintain vigilant surveillance along the track, with heightened emphasis during monsoon periods, to ensure consistent monitoring and adherence to safety protocols. Maintains meticulously organized records and registers, such as section registers, gang charts, diaries, curve registers, and inspection notes.

• They are responsible for safeguarding permanent way materials, tools, and stores under their supervision while ensuring accurate accounting and inventory management. Collaborate with various departments, including Works, Bridge, and Signalling, to synchronize joint initiatives and ensure cohesive project execution. Submits detailed reports to senior leadership regarding track conditions, recommending corrective measures as needed.
