Credit Supervisor
UWEZO MICROFINANCE LIMITED is recruiting a Credit Supervisor for its team in Uganda. The position is full-time, in the banking, finance, and insurance sector. The salary ranges between 500,000 and 1,000,000 UGX, negotiable, with commission.
Job Context
The Credit Supervisor is responsible for supervising and guiding credit officers in client acquisition, credit assessment, loan disbursement, monitoring, and recovery activities. The role ensures portfolio quality, compliance with credit policies, and achievement of the branch's lending targets.
Candidate Profile
Minimum education level: Bachelor's degree. Experience: intermediate level, 2 years. Language: English. Schedule: full-time, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
1. Credit Operations and Assessment
Review and verify loan applications submitted by credit officers.
Conduct field visits, client interviews, and household/business assessments.
Ensure proper credit assessment, group formation, and loan documentation.
Recommend loan approvals within set limits and escalate high-risk cases.
2. Portfolio Monitoring and Risk Management
Track individual and group performance across all loan cycles.
Monitor repayment schedules to ensure high recovery rates.
Early identification of potential default cases and design recovery strategies.
Support credit officers in follow-ups and field recovery visits.
Maintain the portfolio at risk (PAR) within acceptable institutional limits.
3. Staff Supervision and Capacity Building
Supervise, mentor, and support credit officers in their daily activities.
Provide ongoing coaching on field procedures and credit management.
Ensure staff meet productivity and portfolio quality targets.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and assist in training new employees.
4. Compliance and Reporting
Ensure all credit operations comply with internal policies and regulatory standards.
Verify accuracy of credit records, client information, and loan entries.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly credit reports to management.
Support internal and external audits by ensuring proper documentation.
5. Customer Service
Address client concerns related to credit products and repayment schedules.
Promote responsible borrowing and financial education among clients.
Strengthen the institution's relationship with clients, groups, and community leaders.
