Job Context: The Transport Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the organization's transport operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of people, goods, or materials. The role involves managing the vehicle fleet, supervising drivers, ensuring compliance with transport regulations, optimizing routes, monitoring vehicle maintenance, and maintaining high standards of safety and operational performance. The Transport Manager also works closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure reliable and timely transport services while controlling operational costs.
Responsibilities:
Track deliveries from various trucks, fuel, and maintenance checks. Plan operations and route management. Produce detailed reports that can be used for strategic decision-making. Ensure reports are produced in a timely and frequent manner. Train, monitor, and supervise drivers. Ensure all drivers and employees comply with transport laws and regulations. Establish and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, service providers, and partners to negotiate prices, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services. Business development: bring in new business. Help identify risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities in operational processes, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities. Work with the HR team for recruitment, interviews, and hiring of drivers. Maintain operational knowledge of the industry, including challenges and opportunities. Use history or records to forecast future customer and company behavior. Help design new processes to improve quality or increase productivity or profitability.
Desired Profile:
Education: HND / Degree in Logistics and Transport Management or other related fields. Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the maritime transport and logistics sector. Experience in fleet management and mechanical experience.
Personal Qualities: Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and expectations while balancing the needs of different teams and stakeholders. Sense of urgency and responsibility.
