Associate Lawyer – Intellectual Property & Litigation

Integrated Legal Consultants is recruiting an Associate Lawyer to join its Intellectual Property and Litigation department. The position is based in Accra, Greater Accra Region and Tema, full-time (8am-5pm).

Job Context

We are looking for an Associate Lawyer to join our Intellectual Property and Litigation department. The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years of post-call experience, with demonstrable experience in litigation and intellectual property practice. The role involves managing contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including trademark registration, opposition proceedings, responses to refusals, copyright, patents, and IP-related litigation.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing contentious matters related to intellectual property litigation;

  • Handling trademark searches, filings, oppositions, refusals, renewals, assignments, and related filings;

  • Advising clients on copyright, trademarks, patents, and brand protection issues;

  • Drafting pleadings, legal opinions, written submissions, letters, and other legal documents;

  • Representing clients before courts, tribunals, and relevant regulatory bodies;

  • Responding to inquiries, objections, and refusals issued by competent intellectual property authorities;

  • Conducting legal research and providing practical, business-oriented legal advice;

  • Liaising with clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.

Required Profile

Candidates must:

  • Be admitted to the Bar and in good standing;

  • Have at least 5 years of post-call experience;

  • Have demonstrable experience in litigation and intellectual property practice;

  • Possess practical knowledge of trademark registration, opposition proceedings, refusals, copyright, and patents;

  • Strong drafting, research, advocacy, and analytical skills;

  • Excellent communication and client management skills;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Candidates with solid hands-on experience in intellectual property filings and IP litigation will have an added advantage.
