Kenchic Limited, a leader in poultry production in East and Central Africa, is recruiting a Brand Story Teller. Based at Exsan House, Enterprise Road, the company has been operating since 1984 and is recognized as the largest integrated poultry operation in the region, specializing in day-old chicks, processed chicken meat, and value-added products (smoked sausages, choma, etc.).

The Role:

This role is for someone who believes that brands are built through stories, and who has the skills to tell them effectively. As a Brand Story Teller, you will be responsible for Kenchic's image across earned media, digital channels, internal communications, and every touchpoint. You will bridge the company and its audiences, translating our actions into narratives that resonate, build trust, and drive engagement. You will work directly with the Head of Marketing and Brand Managers, in collaboration with our partner agencies.

Your Responsibilities:

You will manage the brand's voice and presence across all channels, ensuring consistent, clear, and relevant communication. Specifically:

  • Drive the PR and earned media strategy: press relations, press activities, corporate communications, and CEO messages.

  • Define the direction for all digital and social content, briefing and holding partner agencies accountable for brand standards and performance goals.

  • Manage internal communications, so that our employees are as connected to the brand as our consumers.

  • Maintain the editorial calendar, setting priorities aligned with product launches, campaigns, and key company moments.

  • Be the guardian of the Kenchic brand voice across every channel, campaign, and conversation.

  • Lead communications on sustainability and ESG, translating our commitments into honest, compelling, and lasting messages.

Desired Profile:

  • 3 to 5 years of active experience in PR, communications, and digital (experience in FMCG or consumer brand is a plus). Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.

  • Excellent writing skills: ability to write a press release, caption, CEO quote, and social post, each tailored to its format.

  • Good knowledge of the East African media landscape and digital platforms.

  • Comfortable working with creative, digital, and PR agencies: briefing, reviewing, providing feedback.

  • Strong organizational skills: managing multiple workflows without losing focus.

  • Experience with media monitoring tools.

  • Familiarity with Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, or social scheduling platforms.

You will succeed if:

  • You are a natural communicator, proud of finding the right words.

  • You follow the news, are active on social media, and notice when brands communicate well (or poorly).

  • You work independently while being collaborative, ask questions, accept feedback, and bring ideas.

  • You are reliable, handle a dynamic environment without losing your composure, and understand that reputation and relationships matter.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
