The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is a non-profit, autonomous international agricultural research center headquartered in Taiwan and with five regional offices worldwide. WorldVeg delivers science and innovation for enhanced vegetable production and consumption in a rapidly changing world. Key Responsibilities: In coordination with national agricultural research systems/ seed companies and consortium members:
Localisation
- Plan, establish, and manage multi-location variety adaptation trials of vegetables and potatoes.
- Collect, and manage agronomic, phenotypic, pest, disease, and environmental data, ensuring data quality and timely submission.
- Analyze trial results and contribute to variety evaluation and release processes, including the preparation of DUS and VCU data and technical reports.
- Facilitate participatory variety assessments involving farmers, Seed companies, and other stakeholders, ensuring inclusive participation of women and men.

- Monitor, identify, and diagnose pests and diseases to inform breeding, seed quality assurance, and pest and disease management efforts.
- Develop, validate, and disseminate effective agronomic and pest and disease management practices, including farmer guides and seed production protocols tailored to local conditions.
- Provide technical training to seed companies, extension services, and farmer organizations to promote the adoption of improved varieties and production practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Expérience
- Master’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Soil Science, Agricultural Production Systems, or a closely related field, with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, collaborate, and maintain strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders, farmer groups, and seed companies
- Strong experience in designing and delivering practical, field-based training, with the ability to simplify technical content
- Solid technical knowledge in seed and seedling production, nursery establishment, improved varieties, and climate-resilient horticultural technologies.
- Proven ability to spend extended periods in the field supervising agronomic trials and ensuring the quality of project implementation. The Reward: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with competitive pay and benefits. The position is only open to nationals or permanent residents of the respective countries. The initial appointment for this position is for three years, renewable. The position is available on 1 September 2026.
