Overview of position CTG is looking for an experienced Nurse in response to the ongoing risk of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreaks and the requirement to maintain operational readiness for the management of suspected EVD cases to support the Ebola Isolation Unit (EIU). The incumbent will provide specialized nursing care, infection prevention and control (IPC) support, and clinical monitoring of patients while ensuring strict adherence to established EVD protocols. To provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care for patients admitted to the Ebola Isolation Unit, ensuring compliance with international infection prevention and control standards and contributing to the UN emergency medical preparedness and response capacity. Role objectives Provide direct nursing care to suspected, probable EVD patients in accordance with approved clinical protocols. Conduct patient assessment, monitoring, documentation, and reporting of clinical status and changes in condition. Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and other prescribed treatments. Strictly implement infection prevention and control measures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), isolation procedures, waste management, and decontamination protocols. Assist in triage, admission, transfer, and discharge of patients within the EIU. Support emergency response activities, including management of critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and stabilization. Participate in simulation exercises, outbreak preparedness activities, and training sessions. Maintain accurate medical records and submit required reports. Assist in stock management of medical supplies, PPE, pharmaceuticals, and equipment required for EIU operations. Promote occupational health and safety practices for staff working in high-risk infectious disease environments. Strong clinical assessment and critical care nursing skills. Thorough knowledge of infection prevention and control practices. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in high-risk environments. Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. High level of professionalism, integrity, and respect for confidentiality. Ability to adapt to austere and challenging field conditions. Provision of continuous nursing support within the Ebola Isolation Unit. Compliance with UN and WHO infection prevention and control standards. Timely and accurate patient documentation and reporting. Contribution to outbreak preparedness, training, and emergency response activities. Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervising Medical Officer. Project reporting The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer/Medical Officer-in-Charge Key competencies Strong clinical assessment and critical care nursing skills. Thorough knowledge of infection prevention and control practices. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in high-risk environments.
