Head of Airfreight – DHL Global Forwarding Cameroon

DHL Global Forwarding, the air, ocean, and road freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, is recruiting a Head of Airfreight for its operations in Cameroon. In this role, you will lead the airfreight operations sub-function at the country level and contribute to the development and implementation of the functional strategy to ensure the smooth flow of goods and information across customers’ global supply chains. You will proactively engage with customers and manage shipments in line with their expectations, while adhering to the country’s business strategy, as well as corporate guidelines and policies.

Your missions

• Formulate the airfreight operations strategy in line with the country’s business strategy and requirements, as well as global guidelines and policies.

• Lead the planning and implementation of airfreight operations plans, measures, and budgets to achieve operational results, driving profitability, volume growth, and service expansion.

• Develop plans, organize, and control large country projects and initiatives to provide fast, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective airfreight operations solutions.

• Lead effective airfreight operations management through end-to-end capacity management, optimization of network procurement, implementation of consolidation opportunities, etc.

• Oversee and take decisions related to operation sites, procurement of capacity, technical support (buying, capacity, etc.), and local purchasing in the country according to global policy.

• Monitor and act on preferred carrier usage and related incentive deals within the country.

• Steer market profiling and customer/competitor research and analysis activities to identify opportunities and challenges.

• Define effective pricing strategies to sustain profitable growth and guide the identification and implementation of new products within the country, while providing input on solution design and service elements.

• Liaise with sales teams to support interactions with key customers, providing pricing and margin guidance, and supporting bids, RFQs, and customer presentations.

• Set and monitor the implementation of compliance standards, procedures, and specifications for the country in line with global guidelines.

• Benchmark and embed best-in-class infrastructure and practices for airfreight operations at the country level.

• Use available tools to proactively monitor and improve performance.

• Conduct regular dialogues with the team to review quality and performance levels against targets.

Profil recherché

• Master's degree.

• More than 8 years of experience.
