The Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation is a premier pan-African nonprofit focused on catalyzing economic transformation. Through the NKAFU POLICY INSTITUTE and other flagship programs, the foundation drives evidence-based policy, entrepreneurship, and democratic governance across Central Africa.
Position summary:
The Head of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization provides strategic leadership to diversify the funding base and expand institutional alliances. This role involves translating programmatic goals into powerful funding propositions and navigating the international development and philanthropy ecosystem.
Roles and responsibility:
• Strategic partnership development:
  - Identifying and managing alliances with bilateral, multilateral, and private sector donors.
  - Acting as the primary liaison for institutional partners and academic think tanks.
  - Overseeing the negotiation and formalization of partnership agreements and MOUs.
• Resource mobilization and fundraising:
  - Creating and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy for long-term sustainability.
  - Mapping funding opportunities from development agencies and corporate CSR programs.
  - Producing high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and donor pitch decks.
• Donor engagement and stewardship:
  - Maintaining robust relationships with current and prospective funders.
  - Ensuring reporting compliance and providing professional briefings for donor meetings.
• Strategic positioning:
  - Enhancing the foundation's visibility in regional and international forums.
  - Aligning external messaging with fundraising and partnership objectives.
• Internal coordination:
  - Collaborating with research leads to translate funding needs into actionable trends.
  - Contributing to the foundation's overall growth and strategic planning agenda.
Qualifications and experience:
• Educational background: Advanced university degree in International Development, Public Policy, Economics, or Business Administration.
• Professional experience: 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, or donor relations.
• Technical expertise: Proven track record of securing institutional funding and a deep understanding of the African philanthropic landscape.
• Desirable assets: Existing networks within the World Bank, African Union, or UN agencies; experience with policy research organizations.
Core competencies:
• Exceptional proposal writing and presentation skills.
• Mastery of relationship management and strategic thinking.
• High level of professional integrity, discretion, and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a dynamic environment.
Language requirements:
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• Professional proficiency in French is highly desirable.
