Role: Chief Human Resources Officer

Department: Human Resources

Industry: Logistics, Freight Forwarding & Transport

Work Location: Douala, Cameroon

  1. Job Purpose

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for defining, leading, and implementing the company’s HR policy in alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.

The role ensures the development of human capital, optimization of employee performance, compliance with labor regulations, and the establishment of a work environment that promotes performance and team engagement.

  1. Main Responsibilities

A. Definition and Implementation of HR Strategy

Develop and implement the company’s HR policy;

Contribute to improving corporate culture and workplace climate;

Establish HR procedures and tools adapted to the company’s operations;

Define talent management and skills development strategies;

Manage recruitment and human resource development;

Support managers in team development;

Participate in payroll management in collaboration with the relevant department.

B. Personnel Administration & Compliance

Ensure compliance with the Cameroon Labor Code and legal obligations;

Supervise employment contracts, personnel files, and disciplinary procedures;

Monitor absences, leave, and staff movements;

Participate in payroll management in collaboration with the relevant department;

Ensure the application of internal policies and disciplinary rules.

C. Employee Relations, HR Reporting & Monitoring

Manage conflicts and propose appropriate solutions;

Ensure internal HR communication;

Promote the company’s values and culture;

Ensure employee well-being and engagement;

Monitor HR indicators (turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, performance, etc.);

Provide regular reporting on HR activities.

D. Administration of employees health insurance

Responsible for managing and implementing the company’s health insurance programs

Coordinating and processing claims and ensuring employees receive timely and accurate benefits coverage.

Education

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s level preferred) in Human Resource Management, Labor Law, Occupational Psychology, Management, or equivalent.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources;

Legal background/profile strongly recommended;

Team management experience preferred.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of Cameroonian labor law;

Mastery of recruitment techniques;

Performance and talent management;

Proficiency in HR tools, HRIS, and office software;

Payroll management;

Ability to develop HR policies and procedures.

Personal Qualities

Leadership and decision-making ability;

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

Strong organizational skills and confidentiality;

Analytical and strategic mindset;

Ability to manage pressure and priorities;

Integrity and professionalism.
