The CECI, through its Voluntary Cooperation Programme, is recruiting a Research Advisor, Social Innovation and Measuring Women’s Economic Empowerment for Côte d’Ivoire, where the organization works to empower communities.

Partner Organization

Empow’Her is an international network of organizations committed to the social and economic empowerment of women through the promotion of inclusive and transformative entrepreneurship. The organization supports women entrepreneurs in the realization of their projects by strengthening their skills, confidence and ability to develop sustainable initiatives. At the same time, Empow’Her works with the various actors in the ecosystem to raise awareness of equality issues and help reduce structural inequalities that still limit women’s access to economic opportunities.

Responsibilities

This mandate is part of an applied research approach aimed at generating knowledge that can be directly mobilized to improve women’s economic empowerment programs. In this sense, the volunteer will have to contribute to the development and implementation of the action-research protocol by participating in the planning of research steps, the identification of information needs and the definition of methods of data collection and analysis.

She will participate in the analysis of women’s economic empowerment processes to better understand the changes observed, the factors that promote them and the obstacles that persist. It will support comparative statistical analyses between the data collected at the beginning of the process and those collected during monitoring, in order to identify observed developments and help measure changes associated with actions.

The volunteer will also participate in the analysis of the results according to the four dimensions of the Compass of Empowerment (Avoir, Savoir, Croisir et Promotion method) in order to better understand the different dimensions of women’s economic empowerment. It will contribute to the creation of dashboards, graphs and visualizations to present the data in a clear way, facilitate their interpretation and support the monitoring of results by the project team.

It will contribute to the drafting of the impact report, the production of technical and learning notes as well as the formulation of recommendations. It will support the preparation of technical and methodological notes presenting the approaches used, the tools developed and the learnings resulting from the project, in order to facilitate their understanding and reuse.

It will participate in dissemination and valorization of results to relevant stakeholders, contributing to the sharing of experiences and lessons learned from the project. It will contribute to the development of an organizational culture that focuses on continuous learning, critical thinking and the use of evidence to guide decisions, adapt interventions and improve women’s economic empowerment programs.

Cross-cutting responsibilities

The volunteer will systematically integrate gender equality, rights and diversity approaches into activities by ensuring the participation and representation of women and young women in all activities. It will take into account environmental and climate change adaptation issues in all activities. It will ensure, at all times, that it complies with the organization’s safety and security guides, manuals, directives or instructions.

It will take the necessary means to contribute to its own security, including by establishing an individual risk mitigation plan at its duty station. She will participate in communication activities aimed at sharing her volunteer experience with those around her and raising her awareness of international solidarity issues. It will organize or support a fundraising activity to contribute to the efforts of communities, with access to the necessary tools and support from a resource person throughout the mandate. It will prepare the reports required by the partner organization and CECI.

Other information

The main partner organisation (contract) for this mandate is Empow’Her, but the volunteer will also support other partner organisations of the Voluntary Cooperation Programme (VCP).

  • •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
