IED Madagascar is a subsidiary of the group Innovation Energie Développement (IED) - French services company, involved in export since 1988. Specialized in projects in Africa and Asia, IED is recognized for its mastery of renewable energies (photovoltaic, biomass and hydropower) and for its expertise in electrical engineering. Driven by a logic of sustainability and social-economic impacts stemming from its action, FDI:

• Carry out engineering studies (prefeasibility, feasibility & execution) and technical and socio-economic diagnostics (in particular in electricity demand analysis);
• Advises public decision-makers in the definition and implementation of their energy strategy, in particular through the design of national or supranational master plans and plans;

Location

• Designs, develops and supervises the construction of‘infrastructure for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity in rural and urban areas (assistance to project management, project management)
• Supports stakeholders in the energy sector through: o Internal development and commercialization of specific software

Education / Qualifications

o Training on energy-related topics and tools o Technical assistance for the development of projects (including tenders) Its main clients are international donors (EU, World Bank, AFD, GIZ, etc.) and public ministries and agencies of energy (more than 90 countries of intervention in the world). The IED group has been present in Madagascar for about fifteen years through its subsidiaries IED-Madagascar and JiroKanto and seeks to strengthen its team based in Antananarivo.

Main duties

Context of the position and main missions As part of its activities related to the development of GIS databases and data processing, the candidate will integrate the team based in Antananarivo, Madagascar (face-to-face position only). Mission #1: As part of the ANGOVO project, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the European Union, IED Madagascar is recruiting a GIS expert to join the Project Management Unit (UGP) in Antananarivo. UGP supports ADER (Agence de Développement de l’Electrification Rurale) in the implementation of calls for projects for the rural electrification of 100 localities in 5 regions of Madagascar (Atsimo Andrefana, Menabe, Melaky, Anosy, Androy). Work needs to be done to streamline and consolidate data from the sector. The data must be structured within a PostGreSQL/PostGIS database.

Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the Project Coordinator, the employee will be responsible for:

• Georeferenced data management of the ANGOVO project (electrified premises, MT and BT networks, subscribers)
• The production of cards
• Support the ADER in defining the base structure needed to track access indicators
• Collect and process the data needed to update the ADER Access database
• Support the ADER in setting up a platform for tracking georeferenced access data, and updating it in real time Mission #2: Support for IED-Madagascar GIS activities including the following:
• Basic GIS structuring,
• Data processing,
• Field data collection,
• GIS training for internal and external users
