Job overview
Central Africa is home to the second largest tropical rainforest in the world. Despite efforts to preserve it, deforestation continues to accelerate, particularly due to difficulties in reconciling forest protection and economic development imperatives. In 2015, several donor and partner countries in Central Africa created the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), in partnership with the United Nations. This initiative aims to preserve the value of the region’s forests, combat climate change, reduce poverty and contribute to sustainable development. The CAFI Secretariat, hosted by the UNDP Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office, supports funding management, policy and programmatic dialogue and monitoring of programme results. In a context marked by increased investment and the development of new mechanisms, including payments for environmental services and private sector projects, CAFI is strengthening its capacity to monitor, assess and manage risks in its partner countries. Job purpose Under the strategic direction of the Head of Secretariat, the Evaluation and Risk Management Team Leader leads the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks, systems and tools. He or she ensures results-based management, program quality assurance and the integration of a structured approach to risk management throughout the Trust’s investment portfolio. The incumbent also provides technical support to management, program and project teams, as well as partners and donors. He or she supervises, among other things, the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and the Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) and Compliance Officer.

Provide technical advice to program managers, project teams, consultants and evaluators. Ensure the integration of gender equality, inclusion of persons with disabilities and the principle of leaving no one behind in programme design, monitoring and evaluation. Develop and oversee the implementation of evaluation plans for programs and projects funded by CAFI. Oversee the collection, analysis and exploitation of data, including maps, satellite images, photographs, texts and statistics. - •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
