Main duties
Togo submitted its last Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in 2021. The total projected cost of implementing the mitigation measures outlined in the revised NDC, as set out in the 2030 Investment Plan, is estimated at approximately US$2.758 billion, while adaptation targets require US$2.779 billion. This represents a total funding requirement of approximately US$5.537 billion to meet the overall emissions reduction target of 50.57% by 2030.
In June 2026, Togo finalized the development of its NDC 3.0, setting a more ambitious reduction target of 52.1% by 2035. In order to achieve its climate goals, the country has created the Togolese Green Fund (TGF), a credible institutional financial instrument. The implementation of the FVT is a key step in creating an environment conducive to the mobilization of climate finance.
In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including those related to clean energy, sustainable cities and the fight against climate change, the NDC of Togo is also part of its advanced regionalization framework. This approach aims to mobilize regional potential, promote equitable development and strengthen interregional solidarity, thus contributing to sustainable economic growth and resilience.
