Position: Electrical specialist in cold
OLAM COCOA, actor of the agri-food sector (coffee-cocao) based in Abidjan, recruits an electrical engineer to strengthen its maintenance teams. The position, full-time and without teleworking, is for a professional with more than 5 years of experience.
Key deliverables
The mission covers the maintenance and repair of electrical and automation equipment. This involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on a wide range of equipment specific to rubber processing: power distribution systems, control panels, motors, sensors, lighting systems, programmable controllers (PLCs), field instrumentation (transmitters, sensors, actuators), remote I/O stations (RIOs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and other production-related installations.
On-site assistance, both in electricity and automation, provides direct and practical support to production teams to solve problems, minimize downtime and ensure the proper functioning of power supply systems and process control systems.
For installation and commissioning, the licensee helps to install and commission new electrical equipment and automation systems, ensuring their compliance with specifications and safe and efficient operation, including configuration and testing of PLCs, field instruments, RIOs and HMIs.
Preventive maintenance involves implementing and executing programs for electrical and automation equipment, in order to identify potential problems and prevent power and control system failures.
Technical troubleshooting involves the diagnosis and resolution of complex problems related to electrical systems and process control: control system failures, power supply problems, instrumentation malfunctions, PLC program problems, communication problems with RIO stations, and IHM operational errors.
In terms of compliance, all electrical safety regulations and procedures should be complied with during the maintenance and repair of power and control systems, and any potential risks associated with rubber processing operations, including those associated with automated equipment, should be identified and reported.
The documentation requires accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and performance of electrical and automation equipment, and updates of electrical schematics, control diagrams, loop drawings and programmable PLC program documentation as required.
Spare parts management is to help identify and manage critical parts inventories in partnership with the NCP team, including sensors, PLC modules, communication boards, and HMI components.
Continuous improvement aims to identify opportunities to increase the reliability and efficiency of electrical and automation systems through modifications or upgrades in the context of rubber processing, including optimizing control logic and improving instrumentation accuracy.
Candidate profile
The candidate must hold a degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution and have 5 to 10 years of practical experience as an electrical engineer, with significant exposure to industrial automation systems.
A solid practical knowledge of electrical systems, equipment and maintenance procedures is required, as well as mastery of the principles and components of industrial automation (industrial programmable controllers, field instruments, communication protocols). The workstation requires a proven ability to efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and diagnose problems within automation systems, including PLC hardware and software, field instrumentation, RIO communication and HMI interfaces.
The candidate must be familiar with electrical safety standards and regulations as well as the safety practices related to automated machines, and understand the techniques of preventive maintenance of electrical systems and automation. Experience in troubleshooting and calibration of various types of field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow rate, level, etc.) is expected, as well as knowledge of programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers, knowledge of specific brands being a plus. Understanding the communication protocols used in industrial automation (e.g. Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP) and experience with human-machine interface (HMI) systems for monitoring and control are also required.
The position requires good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently as well as in a team, as well as good computer knowledge for record keeping, documentation and basic PLC programming software.
