Assistant in charge of monitoring and evaluation

MAIN DUTY

Under the supervision of the Evaluation Monitoring Officer and in collaboration with project managers, the Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant contributes to the collection, processing, analysis and consolidation of data relating to projects and programs implemented by the company. He or she participates in the monitoring of performance indicators, the updating of monitoring and evaluation tools, the control of data quality as well as the production of periodic reports to measure the progress, results and performance of projects.

He or she also contributes to field data collection activities with cooperatives, producers, beneficiaries and other project stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be involved in the implementation and use of project monitoring and evaluation tools, as well as the development and updating of results frameworks, monitoring matrices and dashboards. It will collect and centralize data from project teams and field workers, and take part in data collection operations with beneficiaries, producers, cooperatives and other stakeholders. It will administer questionnaires, survey cards and collection guides.

It will verify the completeness, consistency and reliability of the data collected, identify errors, inconsistencies and missing data and contribute to their correction. It will capture, clean up, classify and consolidate data, and update project databases on a regular basis.

It will participate in the monitoring of achievement, outcome and performance indicators, compare achievements to objectives and expected results, and monitor activities foreseen in project work plans and timetables. It will produce and update activity tracking tables and contribute to the analysis of variances between planned and completed activities.

It will participate in the production of statistics and analyses necessary for project management, prepare tables, graphs and summaries to present the results of projects, and contribute to the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and final reports. She will take part in the documentation of results, good practices, difficulties encountered and lessons learned, as well as in the preparation of follow-up meetings and project reviews.

MAIN DUTIES

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will participate in field monitoring and supervision missions and support field teams in the correct use of collection and reporting tools. He or she will participate in the quality control of data collected in the field and ensure the classification and physical and digital archiving of monitoring and evaluation data and documents.

He or she will ensure the confidentiality and security of the data collected, participate in internal and external evaluations of projects and contribute to the preparation of the necessary elements for audits, controls and evaluations of partners. He or she will participate in the continuous improvement of monitoring and evaluation tools and methods and collaborate with Agro Expertise’s project managers, consultants, supervisors, field agents and other services. He or she will perform any other tasks related to the monitoring and evaluation entrusted by the hierarchy.

KEY SKILLS

Know-how

The position requires a good understanding of project monitoring and evaluation principles and methods, a good ability to collect, process and analyze data, as well as the ability to use questionnaires, collection sheets and survey tools. A good command of database management and cleaning is expected, as well as the ability to track and inform performance indicators.

Mastering office tools, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, is essential, with a very good mastery of Excel: formulas, PivotTables, graphs, filters and database processing. Mastering digital collection tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK or equivalent is an asset, and knowledge of data visualization and analysis tools such as Power BI is an advantage.

The ability to produce dashboards and statistical summaries, a good reporting capacity, the ability to control data consistency and quality, a good organizational and document management capacity, as well as the ability to work with field teams and carry out follow-up missions are also required.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

ÊBe a holder of a BAC+2/BAC+3 minimum in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Project Management, Agronomy, Sociology, Rural Development, Social Sciences or any other relevant field. Additional training in monitoring and evaluation, project management, statistics or data analysis is an asset.

EXPERIENCE

Ideally, you should have a first professional experience or significant internship in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, database management or project reporting. Experience in field data collection and analysis is desired. Experience in a consulting firm, an NGO, a development project/program or an organization involved in the agricultural sector is an advantage. Good knowledge of the agricultural sector, cooperatives and rural development projects in Côte d’Ivoire is an asset. Experience with digital data collection tools is appreciated.
