TechnoServe Specialist Monitoring Evaluation for its poultry processing program in Benin. The position is based at Cotonou, in the Littoral Department, and placed under the supervision of the Project Manager.
Presentation of TechnoServe
For more than 50 years, TechnoServe has worked around the world with a simple conviction: everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future. The organization is pioneering the use of corporate and market power to create sustainable pathways out of poverty. The low-income communities TechnoServe works with are full of enterprising people, whose small farms and businesses are the engines of economic development. However, these actors face many obstacles: low levels of literacy, limited access to jobs and markets, unpredictable political dynamics and, increasingly, the effects of climate change. For many women and young people, these challenges are even more pronounced. By collaborating with TechnoServe staff, people around the world are able to lift themselves out of poverty. The results are remarkable: when families’ incomes increase and their living conditions improve, they gain access to health care and education that was previously out of reach, and entire communities, or even countries, benefit from it.
Project description
The Program for the Transformation of the Poultry Industry in Benin, co-developed by TechnoServe and national public and private partners, aims to strengthen food security and self-sufficiency in poultry while stimulating economic growth. Over five years, it aims to increase local production and marketing of poultry meat and eggs, by structuring a more competitive, resilient and inclusive sector. The program adopts a market systems development approach, placing the private sector as a driver of change, and intervenes throughout the value chain: improving production capacity and access to quality inputs, professionalization of processing and distribution, access to financial and commercial services, and establishment of compliance and traceability systems. The five-year project aims to reach 50% of women and 50% of young people in order to promote equitable and inclusive participation. It places the inclusion of women and youth, digital innovation and sustainable practices at the heart of its strategy to create economic opportunities and consolidate social stability in Benin.

- •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
