About Education Development Center Senegal / Centre for the Development of Education in Senegal (EDC-Senegal): EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT CENTER / SENEGAL "EDC – Senegal (Centre for the Development of Education – Senegal) is a non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in May 2020 that implements education, health and development programs. His work includes research, training, training content development, materials and educational strategies, with activities ranging from pilot projects to large-scale initiatives. To ensure the conditions for a smooth implementation, EDC-Senegal works closely with the national directorates of MEN and MEFPAI to institutionalize job preparation curricula and support services towards employment so that all secondary education and vocational and technical training institutions can carry out these programmes in the future. With regard to MEFPAI, EDC-Senegal works closely with the Directorate of Vocational and Technical Training (DFPT). EDC-Senegal’s mission is to institutionalize youth employability programmes in Senegal in the subsectors of education and vocational training, in partnership with civil society and the private sector. The organization:

• Implements education, health and economic and social development projects/programs for particularly vulnerable populations;
• Promotes youth employability and entrepreneurship;
• Promotes the strengthening of civil society for development actions,
• Combat poverty by building the capacity of women and youth and contribute to their empowerment. To ensure the execution of projects, EDC-Senegal recruits for the position of Gender and Inclusion Coordinator. Job description The Gender and Inclusion Specialist will be in charge of coordinating and leading gender, inclusion and protection activities for children and youth in projects. He/she is responsible for the development of a gender strategy, inclusion and protection of vulnerable people for projects and ensures the capacity building of project actors on gender approaches and protection of vulnerable people in youth programs.

He/she will work closely with other project experts, technicians from the various Ministries concerned and NGO partners.

Experience

He/she will need to have experience in the evaluation and integration of gender issues and approaches and protection of vulnerable people into youth development programs. This position is under the supervision of the Deputy National Director and is based in Dakar with frequent intra-country travel in the project’s intervention areas. Essential functions include (but are not limited to):

• Designing the Gender and Inclusion Strategy for the project, i.e. all activities aimed at promoting women’s equitable access to education, vocational training and employment opportunities, ensuring that girls and young women have the same earning opportunities and providing them with a safe learning and living environment;
• Ensure that gender, inclusion and safety are taken into account in the Project materials, tools, modules and materials.
• Develop a gender mainstreaming strategy in project indicators and project activities;
• Develop a strategy for integrating the policy of protection of vulnerable persons;
• Facilitating the inclusion of people with disabilities in the project implementation process
• Participate in the development of curricula and training modules and verify that all project teaching materials are gender sensitive and inclusive;
• Train the technical team of the project in the evaluation and consideration of gender, inclusion and policy for the protection of vulnerable people in projects;
• Ensure the coordination of gender activities and the protection of vulnerable persons of the different main actors of the projects;
• Oversee the conduct of gender mainstreaming activities, inclusion and policy for the protection of vulnerable people in the activities of the different project components;
• Work closely with component coordinators and local NGO/CBO partners to ensure that the gender, inclusion and protection of vulnerable people policy of EDC-Senegal are taken into account in teacher training and youth program development.
• Work closely with the Communication Specialist to keep gender and inclusion aspects in the internal and external communication of Projects
• Contribute to the documentation and use of knowledge (lessons learned and good practices) in project communication;
• Work with the Project Management and technical team to ensure the success of project activities, identify areas for improvement and implement action measures;
• Provide technical support to consultants involved in gender studies or evaluations as part of project activities;
• Provide technical support on disability inclusion, accessibility and adaptation issues;
• Accompany the operationalization of the recommendations resulting from the various gender studies and diagnoses and inclusion carried out within the framework of the projects;
• Conduct gender studies and diagnoses and inclusion in new projects and support the operationalization of recommendations;
• Contribute to improving the quality of data and its use to optimize the targeting and support of young people;
• Provide technical support to the various ongoing and upcoming projects RISE, PFPI, 3T, LIT Liberia etc.
• Contribute to the development of equity and inclusion capitalization and sharing of EDC-Senegal best practices.
• Building the capacity of project teams and local partners on gender transformative approaches and inclusion
• Advise the management team and operational staff on the application of inclusion and gender standards
• Write reports of gender and inclusion activities for different projects and submit them for approval and sharing
• Ensure, organize and electronically file reports and documentation of project activities (photos, testimonials, reports, case studies, meetings, etc.); in the SharePoint
• Increase visibility of achievements/improvements in Gender and Inclusion by working with the Com specialist for sharing at EDC-Senegal sites
• Support the production of project reports, ensuring that updates and progress related to the GE Strategy (Gender and Inclusion) as well as gender and inclusion indicators and achievements are included in project reports and annual work plans.
• Sharing good practices in terms of Gender and Inclusion
• Support in the management of gender and inclusion aspects in the elaboration of proposals and projects
• Participate in the monthly online gender and inclusion check with technical and financial partners.
• Perform any other duties assigned to him within the scope of his powers.

Candidate profile

• University diplomas (Bac + 4) Master in Education or equivalent degree
• Diploma from a recognized institution in sociology and feminist studies or other similar fields Experiences
• Experience in youth projects, including education and training
• At least 6 years of experience in adult education and identification of gender and inclusion issues, development of gender mainstreaming strategy, protection issues for vulnerable people

Required skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and team spirit
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and good written and oral communication skills in English;
