Electronics Technician

Terya Building and Construction Limited, a multidisciplinary engineering and infrastructure company delivering high-performance solutions across Uganda, is seeking an Electronics Technician to join its Energy Solutions Department. This full-time, permanent position reports to the Technical Services Manager and is based at project sites or the head office in Uganda.

As the official distributor of AKSA Power Generation products in Uganda, Terya supplies and supports reliable power systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. The technical services teams work daily with control systems, instrumentation, and precision measurement, placing electronics competence at the centre of their operations. The company combines engineering excellence with technical precision, working to recognised standards and documented quality procedures on every assignment, from installation and commissioning through to calibration and long-term maintenance.

The Electronics Technician role is where engineering design meets working hardware. The successful candidate will install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain the electronic systems that keep Terya's projects running, including control panels and instrumentation, generator control and transfer systems, solar PV and energy storage electronics, telecommunications DC power, and precision instruments used in calibration and testing services. This position exists because reliable infrastructure depends on accurate measurement and dependable control; when a control loop drifts, a transfer switch hesitates, or an inverter faults, the consequences reach the client directly. The technician's diagnostic discipline, calibration records, and quality of workmanship protect both the client's operation and Terya's reputation.

Working alongside electrical engineers, mechatronics engineers, and quality staff on a genuinely varied portfolio, the technician will not be repeating the same task for years. Terya is a growing employer, and technicians who demonstrate strong fault-finding ability, documentation discipline, and a professional attitude can progress into senior technician, calibration specialist, automation, or supervisory roles, with structured on-the-job mentorship and support for further certification.

Key Responsibilities

Installation and Commissioning

Install electronic control panels, instrumentation loops, and low-voltage systems at project sites and client premises. Terminate, dress, and label cables, glands, and connectors in accordance with approved drawings and industry standards. Commission control and monitoring equipment, verifying loop integrity, signal accuracy, and interlock functionality before handover. Support the installation and commissioning of solar PV systems, inverters, charge controllers, and energy storage systems (ESS). Assist with factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) of electronic assemblies and control equipment.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Diagnose faults on printed circuit boards (PCBs) to component level using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and thermal imaging. Troubleshoot sensors, transmitters, relays,
