Job Description Tiered Approach In adherence to the dedication to preserve existing organizational capacity and assist current personnel, the majority of UNDP, UN CDF, and UNV vacancies are disseminated through a structured, multi-tiered application system.

Office/Unit/Project Description The UNV Field Units (FM) primarily hold responsibility for mobilizing and deploying UN Volunteers within UN agencies, funds, and programs dedicated to addressing peace building, development, and humanitarian challenges. These units serve as the primary interface for UNV in host countries, representing its mission and facilitating access to its services and solutions for partners spanning governments, UN entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector. Scope of Work Country-level partnership development, demand analysis, and volunteer mobilization are key responsibilities of this role. The position requires cultivating strategic alliances with local organizations, assessing community needs to inform program design, and effectively recruiting and engaging volunteers to support initiatives. Proactively cultivate and maintain country-level partnerships with UN agencies, governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to further UNV’s mission, explore collaborative opportunities, and seamlessly integrate volunteer-based solutions into program execution. Engage in collective planning initiatives led by the United Nations, including the Common Country Analysis (CCA), United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (USCF), humanitarian response plans, and thematic task forces, to incorporate volunteerism into their execution. Analyze the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, Country Program Documents, and sectoral strategies to pinpoint key entry points where UNV volunteer solutions can be effectively integrated. Analyze partner demand to support the formulation and implementation of tailored volunteer mobilization strategies at the country level, in alignment with UNV’s Strategic Framework. Identify and evaluate potential opportunities for deploying both onsite and online volunteers within development, humanitarian, and peace-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with partner priorities.

  • Drive volunteer engagement at the grassroots level by coordinating outreach programs, advancing awareness initiatives, and fostering partnerships with key stakeholders and local communities to embed volunteer-driven solutions within development and humanitarian efforts. Articulate and present UNV’s unique value proposition and diverse volunteer opportunities to partners using compelling, data-backed briefing materials, persuasive presentations, and insightful analytical notes. Support national talent acquisition initiatives and ensure a robust talent pipeline by aligning recruitment strategies with country-specific demand forecasts and recruitment priorities, in collaboration with the Regional Talent Acquisition Analyst. 2. Business intelligence, demand analysis and planning
  • Develop and maintain structured country‑level business intelligence on UN partner mandates, programme pipelines, and emerging priorities relevant to volunteer mobilization.
  • Monitor mobilization trends, track key performance indicators, and use corporate tools (CRM, BI reports, UVP) to support planning, forecasting, and strategic decision making.
  • Contribute to adapting regional volunteer mobilization priorities into country-specific recommendations, based on partner needs, data analysis, and local context.
  • Contribute to the identification of thematic volunteer solutions, pilot initiatives, and joint approaches aligned with national needs and UN priorities in the country. 3. Ensure Duty of Care Collaborate effectively with the Field Security Officer and host organizations to guarantee that UN Volunteers remain fully informed and fully compliant with all relevant security policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies. Ensure the prompt and compliant provision of medical evacuation assistance for UN Volunteers, coordinating seamlessly with medical service providers, host entities, and other pertinent UNV offices. Ensure the welfare and productivity of deployed UN Volunteers through consistent communication, scheduled on-site assessments at duty stations, and collaboration with supervisors and counterparts to promptly resolve challenges and enhance service delivery. In close collaboration with pertinent departments, deliver prompt assistance to UN Volunteers throughout the entirety of their engagement. 4. Management Develop and oversee the execution of the Field Unit’s yearly work plan, establishing clear performance metrics. Additionally, manage and monitor UNV operational support funds and budget, ensuring accurate reporting and financial accountability throughout the process. Facilitate the seamless operation of the UNV country presence by coordinating service delivery and fostering a supportive, collaborative work environment that encourages continuous learning and upholds professionalism. Oversee all personnel assigned by UNV within the assigned Field Unit, ensuring their supervision, conducting performance evaluations, and facilitating capacity-building initiatives. Institutional Arrangement Reporting to the Portfolio Manager/Specialist at the Regional Office, the Partnership Analyst is responsible for providing country-level analytical and partnership support to advance UNV’s volunteer mobilization agenda. This role integrates strategic partnership analysis, business intelligence, and operational coordination, while also managing the team of UN Volunteers engaged in Field Unit activities. The successful candidate will enhance UNV’s reputation as a leading provider of solutions for UN partners, facilitate greater and more varied volunteer engagement, and align country-level initiatives with regional and global UNV strategic priorities. As a systemwide service managed by UNDP, UNV field units (Us) are integrated into UNDP offices, working in close coordination with the UNDP Resident Representative and the UN Resident Coordinator. Event planning and execution Capable of organizing, overseeing, and delivering both public and private events with precision to reinforce individual communications and advocacy efforts while strengthening UNV’s brand identity and fulfilling its core mandate. Required Skills and Experience Education: An advanced university degree, such as a master’s degree or equivalent, is required in fields like partnership, social sciences, international development, project management, public or business administration, or a related discipline. A bachelor’s degree at the undergraduate level, complemented by an additional two years of relevant professional experience, may be accepted in place of a master’s degree. Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required for candidates holding a master’s degree, while those with a bachelor’s degree must possess at least four years of experience in partnerships, development cooperation, international relations, research, or program analysis, ideally within a humanitarian, development, and/or peace-related context. Proficiency in partnerships, inter-agency collaboration, or stakeholder engagement is a mandatory prerequisite for this role.

Expérience

  • Experience conducting analytical work such as partner mapping, business intelligence, demand analysis, preparation of briefs, concept notes, or knowledge products.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to translate strategic priorities into clear, actionable inputs.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard office software and digital collaboration tools.

Formation / Diplômes

  • Openness to embrace Digital Transformation and use of new technologies.
  • Experience working directly with the United Nations system, UNDP, UNV, or other international organizations is an asset
  • Previous experience in volunteer management, promotion of volunteerism, or engagement with civil society organizations is a distinctive advantage.
