Currently overseeing a network of over 30 secondary schools in Uganda, with an enrollment exceeding 16,000 students, and supported by a 50-person Country Office team alongside 900 staff across its school network, PEAS seeks to appoint two headteachers to fill critical vacancies at Town View and Bitterer PEAS High School. PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is seeking two Headteachers to lead Along PEAS High School in Maybe and Kira View Secondary School in Jinja. The selected candidates will report directly to the Senior School Support Officer (SSO). The Headteacher will deliver impactful, forward-thinking, and motivational leadership to ensure the PEAS school achieves its established educational objectives. You will offer strategic direction and expert management to guide the school’s operations. To foster excellence and continuous advancement, you will prioritize the delivery of high-quality education and tailored learning experiences for every student while upholding rigorous standards and driving progress across all aspects of the school’s activities. Ensures all Education Targets and SIP reports are accurately prepared and submitted to the SSO with full accountability. Conduct performance evaluations and assessments for teaching staff, ensuring full compliance with PEAS schools’ established performance evaluation procedures. Regularly conduct lesson observations to evaluate and monitor the instructional performance of teaching staff. Develop and oversee the induction program for all new staff members, ensuring a thorough and seamless onboarding experience. Serve as the main liaison between Does, UNB, and, in coordination with the SSO, collaborate with the Board of Governors and PTA to advocate for student welfare and institutional alignment. Collaboratively responsible for both the school budget and expenditure budget alongside the School Support Services Officer (SSO). Co-signs all school accounts in conjunction with the SSO. Responsible for preparing and maintaining all school management financial USE reports and associated data in accordance with the specifications provided by the SSO from time to time. Compiles and organizes essential departmental resource needs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational priorities. The role is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective governance frameworks to ensure compliance, risk management, and strategic alignment across the organization. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing governance policies, overseeing regulatory adherence, and facilitating board and committee meetings. The position requires a deep understanding of corporate governance principles, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management and stakeholders. Additionally, it demands experience in governance structures, risk assessment, and performance monitoring to drive accountability and transparency in decision-making processes. Collaborates closely with the PEAS National office, the Board of Governors, the Parents-Teacher Association, and the SSO to formulate and execute strategic initiatives aimed at achieving ambitious academic objectives. Assists the Senior Student Services Officer by identifying and evaluating prospective candidates for both teaching and non-teaching staff positions. Develop and enhance the network by implementing strategic initiatives and fostering collaborative relationships to drive innovation and operational excellence.
Develops new partnerships with external organizations while strengthening current alliances to advocate for the PEAS schools model. Integrates new members into PEAS’ ethical framework and organizational culture through structured induction and orientation programs.
