Partners In Health (PIN), headquartered in Boston, MA, is a globally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering healthcare as a fundamental right for the underserved, while advancing equity through service, training, advocacy, and research. Operating in countries including Haiti, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Russia, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Burundi, Kazakhstan, the Dominican Republic, and Boston, PIN collaborates closely with governments and local partners to strengthen health systems. In Rwanda, PIN’s partnership with the Government of Rwanda through its sister organization, Input Mu Burma (IMB), focuses on expanding access to essential health services in rural and underserved regions, with a particular emphasis on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), oncology, surgery, and reproductive, maternal, neonatal, adolescent, and child health (RMN ACH). Rwinkwavu serves as a central hub for NCD and surgical care, while Irene district is a key area for reproductive and maternal health initiatives. The NCD & RMN ACH Research Manager will be primarily based in Rwinkwavu, with regular travel to Irene district, and will oversee research initiatives across both portfolios, with a strong focus on NCDs. The role demands deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, exceptional scientific writing proficiency, and a proven track record of managing research projects from inception to dissemination. Responsibilities include leading research teams, ensuring methodological rigor, maintaining ethical standards, and fostering collaboration between research, clinical, and programmatic teams. Additionally, the position involves mentoring junior researchers, guiding quality improvement efforts, and translating research findings into actionable program improvements and policy recommendations.

Expert Application Advice

Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.

Credentials and impact — Your current professional registrations, team sizes supervised and care quality indicators are your decisive arguments.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
