Seeking two experienced Head Teachers to lead educational institutions with vision and excellence. Candidates must hold advanced degrees in Education or a related field, possess at least ten years of progressive teaching and administrative experience, and demonstrate strong leadership in curriculum development, staff management, and student achievement. Along Peas High School, located in Maybe, and Kira View Secondary School, situated in Jinja, are in need of qualified and dedicated educators to fulfill teaching roles. Candidates must possess a valid teaching license and a minimum of one year of professional experience in secondary education. Proficiency in English and Mathematics is essential, along with the ability to create engaging lesson plans and foster a positive learning environment. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance educational outcomes. Management, Education, Social Services, and Nonprofit sectors, along with Business Operations and roles in Teaching & Education, are integral components of organizational and societal frameworks. These fields demand professionals equipped with diverse skill sets, including leadership, strategic planning, instructional design, social advocacy, financial acumen, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities often encompass team oversight, program development, community engagement, policy implementation, budget management, and educational delivery, requiring adaptability, ethical judgment, and a commitment to impact-driven outcomes. PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools), a social enterprise dedicated to advancing equitable access to high-quality, sustainably delivered secondary education across Africa, operates in regions where financial and geographical constraints limit educational opportunities. Since its inception, PEAS has established and managed affordable secondary schools in Uganda and Zambia, addressing critical gaps in secondary education access. In 2021, the organization unveiled an ambitious strategy focused on three pillars: expanding access to quality education, ensuring the sustainability of its schools, and strengthening institutional systems. With a network of over 30 secondary schools in Uganda serving more than 16,000 students, a 50-member Country Office team, and approximately 900 staff across its school network, PEAS is now seeking to fill two headteacher positions at Town View and Bitterer PEAS High School. Headteacher Positions (Two Vacancies) Organization: PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) Duty Station: Along Peas High School in Maybe and Kira View Secondary School in Jinja Reporting Line: Senior School Support Officer (SSO) The Headteacher will deliver impactful, forward-thinking leadership to empower the PEAS school in achieving its established educational goals, overseeing strategic direction and professional administration. To foster success and advance progress, you will uphold excellence in education while ensuring personalized learning opportunities for every student, elevating academic performance and overall standards across all aspects of the school’s operations. Conduct outreach initiatives to engage target audiences, fostering relationships and generating opportunities for collaboration. Develop and implement strategic outreach plans to enhance visibility and drive participation in programs or events. Identify and engage with key stakeholders, partners, and community leaders to expand network reach and strengthen partnerships. Monitor and evaluate outreach effectiveness, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize impact and achieve desired outcomes. Collaborates closely with the Senior School Support Officer to design and implement strategic outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing student enrollment and expanding the student body within PEAS schools. Formulates and executes strategic initiatives designed to effectively communicate and uphold PEAS School’s mission among internal stakeholders and the broader community. We seek a seasoned professional to oversee academic programs, curriculum development, and faculty coordination within a dynamic educational institution. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant advanced degree, demonstrate extensive experience in educational leadership or administration, and possess a strong understanding of accreditation standards and compliance requirements. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, budget management, student performance assessment, and fostering collaborative partnerships with stakeholders. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills are essential to drive institutional excellence and innovation. To establish and maintain rigorous performance standards for PEAS students while fostering an environment where teachers excel through creativity and effectiveness. Foster a culture of care and trust among PEAS staff, establishing a foundation for respectful engagement with students while remaining open to adapting practices in response to evolving insights. Collaborates with the Senior School Student Officer (SSO) to implement and maintain a school framework that fosters collaborative decision-making, empowering delegation and shared leadership practices.

  • Creates avenues for team members to exchange knowledge and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development through personal practice. Ensures accountability for all Education Targets and SIP reports, submitting them to the SSO as required. Conduct performance management and evaluations of teaching staff, ensuring full adherence to all PEAS schools’ performance assessment protocols. Conduct routine evaluations of instructional staff through scheduled lesson observations to assess teaching effectiveness and provide constructive feedback. The new staff induction program must be meticulously managed and executed by you. Serve as the main liaison for Does and UNB while collaborating with the SSO to engage with the Board of Governors and PTA, ensuring all decisions prioritize student welfare. We seek a dynamic individual to spearhead and inspire teams toward achieving organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of guiding and motivating employees, fostering collaboration, and driving results through strategic direction. Responsibilities include setting clear goals, delegating tasks, and ensuring accountability while maintaining open communication and a positive work environment. Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to adapt to evolving challenges are essential. Candidates must demonstrate experience in conflict resolution, decision-making, and performance management to cultivate a high-performing team. Demonstrating leadership in guiding educators to meet mutually established objectives and performance benchmarks. The incumbent is responsible for guaranteeing that the school fully complies with all relevant government regulations and statutory requirements. Oversee the strategic planning and execution of financial operations to ensure fiscal stability and growth, analyzing financial data, forecasting trends, and preparing comprehensive reports for stakeholders. Develop and implement budgets, monitor expenditures, and optimize resource allocation to maintain financial health. Lead financial audits, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and mitigate financial risks through proactive analysis and strategic initiatives. Require a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in financial management. Proficiency in financial software, advanced Excel skills, and strong analytical, leadership, and communication abilities are essential. Collaboratively responsible for managing both the school budget and the expenditure budget, working in partnership with the SSO to ensure fiscal oversight and accountability. Co-signs all school-related financial accounts in collaboration with the School Site Support Officer (SSO). Responsible for preparing and maintaining all financial reports and data pertaining to school management, as mandated by the SSO from time to time. Compiles and organizes departmental resource needs while determining their relative importance to ensure efficient allocation. The organization requires oversight to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards. This role involves establishing robust frameworks, monitoring performance metrics, and mitigating risks through proactive measures. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making processes to uphold accountability and transparency across all operations. Proficiency in governance best practices, along with strong analytical and communication skills, is essential for driving sustainable growth and maintaining institutional integrity. Collaborates closely with the PEAS National office, the Board of Governors, the Parents-Teacher Association, and the SSO to design and implement strategic initiatives that drive and achieve ambitious academic objectives. The incumbent provides support to the Senior Security Screening Officer (SSO) by identifying and evaluating potential candidates for both teaching and non-teaching staff positions, ensuring thorough research and informed recommendations. Provide support in enhancing and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. Collaborate with IT teams to implement upgrades, troubleshoot issues, and enforce best practices for network operations. Develop and document network configurations, policies, and procedures to align with industry standards and organizational goals. Monitor network traffic, analyze performance metrics, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement. Assist in disaster recovery planning and execute network-related tasks to minimize downtime and disruptions. Stay current with emerging technologies and advancements in networking to recommend innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and scalability. Professional Rewriting: The successful candidate will cultivate and expand partnerships with external organizations while strengthening existing alliances to advocate for the PEAS schools model and its unique educational approach. Inducts and orients new members to PEAS ethics and culture as part of their onboarding process. Providing early leadership opportunities for school management teams is a key responsibility. Proactively taking the initiative to disseminate insights and effective practices to new PEAS school management teams is also required. Seeking candidates with a robust background in the field, complemented by relevant qualifications.
