As an Investment Manager at FED, you will assume a central role throughout every phase of the investment process for our Direct Investment Fund strategy. This position demands leadership in evaluating prospective investments, conducting rigorous financial analysis, shaping deal structures and negotiations, managing due diligence, and tracking portfolio performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will also be essential, particularly in developing concept papers for diverse initiatives. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong analytical capabilities, a robust grasp of the private equity landscape, and hands-on experience with direct investments—ideally within Africa. Thriving in a high-energy and rapidly evolving setting is imperative. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and oversight to the investment team across all stages of the investment process and fund lifecycle, encompassing deal sourcing, opportunity evaluation, participation in investment committees and board meetings, portfolio company oversight, exit strategies, and fundraising initiatives. Perform comprehensive risk assessments, identify strategic opportunities, and assess the viability of investments or emerging Greenfield projects. Lead detailed financial analysis, modeling, and valuation to evaluate potential investments and monitor portfolio performance. Guide the deal structuring process by analyzing investment terms, drafting term sheets and investment memos, negotiating terms, and coordinating deal execution. Conduct thorough due diligence on target companies, engaging with executive leadership and analyzing industry trends, competitive dynamics, and financial performance. Liaise with due diligence advisors, review their findings, and present insights to FED’s management and investment strategy committee. Assess and report on portfolio company performance, pinpointing key performance indicators and proposing enhancements. Track value-creation plans, including ESG implementation for portfolio companies. Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly investment reports for FED’s governance bodies, including executive management, the board, and investors. Stay abreast of market developments, regulatory shifts, and macroeconomic factors influencing FED’s investment decisions. Support fundraising efforts by developing marketing materials and participating in investor engagements for portfolio companies or FED’s funds. Qualifications: Analytical Proficiency: Capacity to dissect intricate financial data, detect pivotal trends, and derive actionable insights. Financial Modeling Expertise: Skilled in constructing and deploying financial models to assess opportunities, forecast performance, determine valuations, and evaluate risk. Research & Due Diligence: Adept at conducting thorough research, analyzing market conditions, and performing rigorous due diligence on potential investments. Precision & Accuracy: Meticulous attention to detail in financial analysis, data interpretation, and report preparation.
