Maseno University, a public university founded in 1991 and located in Maseno near Kisumu, Kenya, is seeking to fill 40 Tailor positions on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified professionals to contribute to the university's academic environment.
Profile Sought:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Craft Certificate in Tailoring, Dressmaking, or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Additionally, they must hold an Original National Identification Card and have at least one (1) year of relevant work experience as a Tailor.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will be responsible for measuring, cutting, sewing, and assembling graduation gowns and related academic regalia in accordance with approved specifications. They will also alter and repair existing graduation gowns as required, hem, finish, and press gowns to ensure a neat and professional appearance, and inspect completed gowns to ensure they meet the required quality standards. Other duties include operating and maintaining sewing machines and other tailoring equipment in good working condition, reporting any shortages or defects in materials and accessories to the supervisor, ensuring proper handling and safe storage of fabrics, accessories, and finished gowns, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area, completing assigned work within the prescribed timelines, and performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Interested candidates are required to report to the Department of Arts and Design, Siriba Campus, Maseno University, on Monday, 17th August 2026, at 9:00 a.m. for a practical assessment. Candidates must bring their own tools of trade, including a sewing machine and a pair of scissors.
