Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR) is offering a six-month internship within the Research, Evidence and Policy Department for a Research and Data Analytics Intern. Aimed at motivated recent graduates or early-career professionals, this opportunity provides hands-on experience in applied research, data analysis, project coordination, and knowledge management. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting research initiatives, data-driven analysis, report development, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge dissemination, all contributing to AFR’s goal of promoting financial inclusion in Rwanda. The intern will assist in executing the AFR Research and Market Analysis Framework, with a focus on producing learning products, notably the “AFR Thinks” series. Responsibilities include cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data from AFR projects and surveys, as well as preparing quantitative and qualitative reports. The role involves contributing to research design—such as developing sampling frameworks, survey tools, analytical strategies, and quality control measures—alongside conducting literature reviews, secondary research, and drafting concept notes, reports, presentations, and knowledge products. Additionally, the intern will support the oversight and coordination of research activities carried out by consultants, partners, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of outputs. They will also contribute to quarterly, annual, and project-specific progress reports while tracking key performance indicators. Further duties include organizing and facilitating meetings, consultations, workshops, dissemination events, and other project-related engagements. Administrative and operational support will be provided to the Research, Evidence and Policy Department, encompassing documentation, filing, and maintaining research databases and records. The intern will participate in data validation, quality checks, and reviews of analytical reports and studies, as well as assist in preparing presentations, dashboards, and communication materials for both internal and external audiences. Other tasks may include performing additional research and analytical assignments as directed by the Head of Research, Evidence and Policy. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in one of these fields is preferred. Proficiency in statistical or analytical software—such as STATE, SPSS, Python, R, Power BI, or Excel—along with strong quantitative, analytical, and writing skills are essential. Experience in managing both quantitative and qualitative datasets, applying descriptive and inferential statistics, and conducting rigorous research methodologies is required.
