The company is currently recruiting a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position with Claims Officer at our Head Office. Reporting directly to the Claims Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of claim processing, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong understanding of insurance principles, excellent analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail to evaluate claims, resolve disputes, and facilitate timely resolutions. The position demands proficiency in claim management software, effective communication to liaise with claimants, brokers, and internal teams, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines. Additionally, the role may involve training and mentoring junior staff, contributing to process improvements, and maintaining comprehensive records in compliance with legal and operational requirements. Claims Officer The successful candidate will oversee the processing and administration of claims while diligently managing associated costs, delivering high-quality customer service, and ensuring strict adherence to company protocols and service benchmarks. Main duties will include the following: Accurately register, process, and manage claims in compliance with established departmental procedures upon receiving notifications. This includes establishing initial reserves with precision and maintaining meticulous claim records throughout the process. Ensure strict adherence to divarication protocols, reminder schedules, deadlines, and action documentation, while independently managing your backlog and providing timely updates for review. Conduct thorough investigations into loss incidents, confirm the accuracy of damage assessments against reported claims, and rigorously validate each submission to identify potential fraudulent activities. Promptly conduct inspections and assessments of both motor and non-motor claims, and determine the necessity of appointing loss adjusters, assessors, or other service providers. Collaborate with repair technicians and component vendors to validate repair expenditures and completion schedules against established agreements, while mitigating potential claims discrepancies. Responsibilities include gathering salvage materials, compiling recovery documentation, and submitting files to pertinent departments such as subrogation and reinsurance teams for processing. Promptly acknowledge claim notifications, provide customers with regular updates regarding their claim status, investigate and resolve complaints, and escalate issues that exceed approved thresholds when required. Prepare claims files, payment documents, and management reports, ensuring strict adherence to claims directives, service level agreements (SLAs), underwriting terms, and company operational requirements. Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field is required. Diploma (ACII) qualification. With a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in claims management or a comparable insurance-related setting, you will bring valuable expertise to our team. Affiliated with the Insurance Institute of Zambia or another pertinent professional insurance organization. Skills/Competencies Demonstrates proficiency in organizing and prioritizing daily and weekly tasks to consistently meet established performance objectives. Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills with the capability to promptly recognize and address errors. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential to fulfill the duties of this position successfully. Must possess strong attention to detail to ensure precise execution of assigned tasks. Ability to conduct thorough analysis of operational issues pertinent to the position.
