- e in Pastoralism and Disaster Preparedness are to provide technical, strategic and operational support to the PEWS-SARPI and PRADEP-CARAVAN projects (and other future projects) in order to strengthen the resilience of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities to climate, food, health and security shocks. The position aims to link pastoral early warning systems, community disaster preparedness, transboundary natural resource governance, anticipatory action and regional capitalization, ensuring an inclusive, participatory and sustainable approach. Coordinate the action of national partners for the implementation of project activities. Strengthen the use and institutionalization of pastoral early warning systems, including PEWS, SIGSahel, GeoSahel and national SAPs and regional institutions. Support community preparedness for disasters through participatory diagnostics, co-constructed community plans and local anticipation mechanisms. Support inclusive and cross-border governance of pastoral resources, strengthening dialogue between communities, authorities, pastoral organizations and regional institutions. Strengthen the capacities of local, national and regional actors in pastoral surveillance, risk management, anticipatory action, animal health, inclusion and accountability. Capitalize on learning and fuel regional advocacy to transform data, community experiences and best practices into operational and policy recommendations. Ensure strong representation and positioning with partners, institutions and actors in the region and regional coordination bodies in the thematic areas of the position. Knowledge in disaster risk management, humanitarian action, rural development, pastoralism, animal husbandry, food security, agronomy, veterinary medicine, social sciences or any other relevant field. A specialization in geographic information systems (GIS), database management or spatial analysis is an asset. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in similar roles within humanitarian, development or regional institutions. Proven experience in pastoral and agro-pastoral contexts, particularly in Sahelian areas and coastal countries of West and Central Africa. Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and monitoring humanitarian, resilience and emergency preparedness programs. Good knowledge of pastoralism, pastoral mobility, natural resource governance and mechanisms for anticipatory action. Experience working with national authorities, regional institutions (ECOWAS, CILSS, AES, IGAD, etc.), community organizations and technical and financial partners. Good understanding of the requirements and mechanisms of major humanitarian and development donors (ECHO, USAID, GIZ, AFD, etc.). Knowledge of how Action Against Hunger works is an asset. Excellent capacity for analysis, coordination, facilitation and institutional representation. Good understanding of protection, inclusion, gender and accountability approaches in humanitarian and development programmes. Proficiency in French and good level of professional English Availability for frequent travel in West and Central Africa, especially in Sahel countries and coastal countries covered by ACF ROWCA. We offer immediate incorporation into a dynamic organization of international scope with the following contractual conditions: 18-month employment contract with possibility of renewal.
