Position Summary The Construction Coordinator will provide leadership and oversight for expansive construction and infrastructure initiatives backed by CBM, guaranteeing adherence to quality benchmarks, regulatory compliance, fiscal accountability, and punctual project completion. This position demands robust technical proficiency, adept contract administration skills, and the capacity to foster productive partnerships with contractors, consultants, government entities, and collaborating organizations. This role plays a pivotal part in protecting CBM’s infrastructure investments by guaranteeing that all projects adhere to accessibility, safety, and regulatory requirements. These are your responsibilities We are seeking a candidate to provide comprehensive project oversight and coordination, ensuring all initiatives are managed efficiently from inception to completion. This role involves meticulous planning, progress tracking, and seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and achieve strategic objectives. The ideal candidate must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask effectively, and a proven track record in project management. Additionally, experience with relevant tools and methodologies is required to drive successful outcomes. Responsible for directing the planning, design review, and execution of significant construction initiatives, including hospitals, schools, and rehabilitation facilities. Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contractual agreements. Track and compare actual construction progress to established timelines and financial allocations to ensure alignment with project schedules and budgetary constraints. Collaborate with contractors, consultants, partners, and CBM program teams to ensure seamless coordination and effective communication. Contract and Compliance Management involves overseeing contractual agreements and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to monitor compliance with legal, fiscal, and operational requirements while mitigating risks associated with contract breaches. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, maintaining accurate documentation, and conducting periodic audits to verify conformity with applicable laws and internal policies. Additionally, the position demands strong analytical skills to assess compliance gaps and implement corrective measures, as well as effective communication to liaise with stakeholders and resolve disputes. Proficiency in compliance software and a deep understanding of industry-specific regulations are essential. Provide counsel and recommendations regarding construction contracts and Bills of Quantities (Boys). Verify adherence to Zambian building regulations and statutory mandates. Ensure strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and protocols. Verify that all projects comply with disability-inclusive and universal access standards throughout their development and implementation phases. Financial & Risk Management encompasses the strategic oversight of an organization’s financial health and exposure to potential risks. This role involves implementing robust financial controls, conducting thorough risk assessments, and developing mitigation strategies to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance. Professionals in this field analyze market trends, financial statements, and operational data to identify vulnerabilities and recommend data-driven solutions. They collaborate with senior leadership to align financial objectives with risk appetite, ensuring sustainable growth while minimizing adverse exposures. Key responsibilities include managing audit processes, overseeing insurance programs, and advising on capital allocation and investment decisions. Examine payment certificates and confirm the completion of works. Monitor expenditures to identify deviations, then provide strategic counsel to leadership regarding potential financial impacts. Assess potential construction hazards and develop strategies to minimize or eliminate associated risks. Facilitate and coordinate both internal and external audits pertaining to construction projects. 4. Quality Assurance Perform consistent site evaluations and compile comprehensive technical documentation. Deliver materials and workmanship that consistently satisfy established quality benchmarks and specifications. Confirm that all completion certificates and handover procedures have been executed and documented accurately. 5. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with governmental ministries, municipal authorities, and regulatory agencies to facilitate seamless communication and coordination. Collaborate with engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution. Prepare comprehensive technical briefings for senior management and donors to ensure alignment on project progress and key developments. These are your qualifications: Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is required, with a Master’s Degree considered a beneficial asset.

Expérience

  • Must be an active, registered professional with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (LIZ) or another applicable regulatory body. Experience With a minimum of eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in overseeing and delivering large-scale construction projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing intricate infrastructure initiatives, such as healthcare facilities, institutional structures, or public-sector projects. Highly desirable candidates will possess prior experience collaborating with non-governmental organizations, donor-funded initiatives, or public-sector construction projects.
  • Demonstrates extensive expertise in FDIC and comparable construction contract frameworks. Technical Competencies
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive grasp of structural, architectural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems.
  • Strong background in cost control and contract administration. Aptitude for analyzing and comprehending technical drawings and specifications is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency in universal design principles and accessibility standards is required. Personal Competencies
